- • The VR Peer Support Coach is a remote, non-clinical role supporting members using virtual reality (VR) programs for chronic pain and mental wellness, providing empathetic, one-on-one support to help members onboard, navigate the VR platform, and build consistent engagement with self-regulation tools.
- • Day to day, the coach conducts video or phone sessions for onboarding and regular check-ins, helps members overcome technical and emotional barriers using motivational interviewing, habit-building, and supportive accountability, documents interactions, collaborates with the team, and escalates issues as needed while maintaining clear non-clinical boundaries.
- • Better Health is creating a new medical provider type by bundling peer support, coaching, education, and home delivery of medical supplies to disrupt the $60B home medical supply industry, serving members of top payers including Medicare, Medicaid, Cigna, Humana, Florida Blue, and Oscar, and is backed by top investors such as Mosaic General Partnership, General Catalyst, and Samsung Next.
- • In this role, the person can learn to apply lived experience in chronic pain or mental health to support others, develop coaching and motivational interviewing skills, gain experience with VR health technology and HIPAA-compliant documentation, and contribute to positive clinical health outcomes while working flexibly as a 1099-contractor.
🎯 Requirements
- • First hand experience with chronic pain or mental wellness diagnosis
- • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort talking on video calls and over the phone
- • Comfortable making outbound calls
- • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and work independently within established procedures
- • Comfortable with technology including Google Suite, SLACK, and the company software portal
- • Must be able to pass a background check
- • Must be willing to complete HIPAA certification before starting
- • Must have a laptop or Chromebook with at least 16 GB
