  • • As a Virtualization/VMware Systems Administrator at General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. (GDIT), you will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing the robust virtual infrastructure that underpins critical mission operations for USCENTCOM. This role offers a unique opportunity to advance your career in enterprise IT while contributing to significant national security objectives.
  • • You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of our virtualized environment, encompassing design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and numerous virtual machines across geographically dispersed sites. Your expertise will ensure the stability, performance, and availability of these vital systems.
  • • A key aspect of your role will involve proactive monitoring and performance tuning of the virtual infrastructure. This includes identifying and addressing resource utilization bottlenecks, optimizing system performance, and ensuring high availability to meet demanding operational requirements.
  • • You will manage and configure VMware networking components, including distributed switches and VLANs, to ensure seamless and secure network connectivity for all virtualized resources. This requires a deep understanding of virtual networking principles and best practices.
  • • Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to VMware technologies will be a core responsibility. You will be expected to diagnose and fix performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and virtual machine management issues with minimal downtime, ensuring continuous operational readiness.

  • • Implementing and managing robust backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines and infrastructure components is crucial for business continuity. You will ensure that data is protected and recoverable in the event of an outage or disaster.
  • • You will be tasked with evaluating emerging VMware technologies and making recommendations for their adoption to enhance system performance, efficiency, and capabilities, keeping our infrastructure at the forefront of technological advancement.
  • • Ensuring strict compliance with Department of War (DoW) security policies, regulations, and industry best practices is non-negotiable. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the security posture of the virtualized environment.
  • • You will actively support projects aimed at enhancing the security, efficiency, or overall capability of the virtualized environment, contributing to its continuous improvement.
  • • Collaboration with vendors and third-party providers will be necessary for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution, ensuring that all aspects of the virtual infrastructure are supported effectively.
