📋 Description

• Qodeworld is seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Migration Lead to spearhead critical infrastructure transformation initiatives. This pivotal role will be instrumental in guiding our organization through complex VMware environment migrations, ensuring seamless transitions, minimal disruption, and optimal performance post-migration. You will be the driving force behind the entire migration lifecycle, from initial assessment and meticulous planning through to flawless execution and rigorous validation.
• As the VMware Migration Lead, you will be responsible for the comprehensive discovery and assessment of our existing VMware infrastructure. This involves a deep dive into current configurations, resource utilization, dependencies, and potential challenges. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying opportunities for optimization and ensuring that our migration strategy aligns with broader business objectives and technological roadmaps.
• A core aspect of your role will be to develop detailed, actionable migration strategies. This includes crafting comprehensive runbooks that outline every step of the migration process, ensuring clarity and consistency. Equally important is the development of robust rollback plans, providing a safety net to mitigate any unforeseen issues and guarantee business continuity.
• You will act as a central point of coordination, liaising effectively with diverse teams across the organization. This includes close collaboration with infrastructure specialists, application owners, security experts, and network engineers. Your ability to foster strong working relationships and facilitate clear communication will be paramount to the success of these cross-functional efforts.
• The scope of your responsibilities extends to overseeing the migration of critical components, including Virtual Machines (VMs), storage solutions (SAN and NAS), and networking elements. You will ensure that these migrations are conducted with precision, adhering to best practices and minimizing downtime.
• Ensuring compliance with enterprise security and governance standards is a non-negotiable requirement. You will work closely with security and compliance teams to embed these principles throughout the migration process, safeguarding our data and systems.
• Proactive risk management is essential. You will be tasked with identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the migration. This includes managing dependencies between different systems and workstreams, and ensuring that project timelines, particularly for Phase 1 deliverables, are met effectively.
• Providing clear, concise, and executive-level status reporting to stakeholders is a key responsibility. You will be the primary communicator on migration progress, challenges, and successes, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned.
• A critical part of the role involves troubleshooting and resolving any migration-related issues that arise. Your ability to quickly diagnose problems and implement effective solutions will be vital to keeping the migration on track.
• Post-migration, you will lead the validation process to ensure the performance, stability, and functionality of the migrated environment. This includes conducting thorough testing and performance tuning to confirm that the new infrastructure meets or exceeds expectations.

• This position is based in either Fort Mill, SC or New York, offering a dynamic work environment within a forward-thinking organization committed to technological excellence.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in IT Infrastructure.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, and VMware ESXi.
• Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale datacenter or infrastructure migrations.
• Strong knowledge of virtual networking concepts (VLANs) and ideally experience with NSX.
• Solid understanding of storage technologies, including SAN and NAS.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud migration strategies and platforms such as AWS or Azure is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience with strong documentation practices and IT governance frameworks.
