  • • Lead and scale Solace’s expanding telehealth physician workforce as the principal operational physician executive, reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer.
  • • Serve as direct supervisor to a growing team of medical directors and associate medical directors, establishing performance expectations and a structured accountability framework.
  • • Build and mentor the pipeline of associate medical directors, cultivating physician leadership as a core organizational capability.
  • • Partner with the Medical Director for Clinical Quality to define clinical quality strategy, set priority measures, benchmarks, and improvement targets across the physician workforce.
  • • Champion a culture of patient safety and continuous clinical improvement, including co-developing an accreditation readiness program with compliance teams.
  • • Oversee clinical operations, ensuring service delivery, capacity, and utilization align with established clinical standards and telehealth-specific guidelines.
  • • Set and enforce clinical policies governing scope of practice, documentation standards, and telehealth protocols in collaboration with Legal and Compliance.
  • • Own physician onboarding from a clinical readiness perspective, ensuring new hires receive comprehensive orientation, training, and mentorship to perform effectively from day one.
  • • Monitor physician performance data—including productivity, quality metrics, patient satisfaction, and documentation compliance—at both cohort and individual levels, and develop targeted action plans for underperformance.
  • • Co-develop clinical strategy with the CMO for new service lines, defining goals, resource requirements, and success metrics as part of the clinical operations plan.
  • • Design and implement a leadership structure capable of supporting rapid organizational growth, identifying key hires needed to scale clinical operations.
  • • Build and maintain the clinical policy library in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and Medical Directors, serving as the clinical authority for physician escalations and advocate service support.
  • • Own the physician experience as a strategic priority, monitoring engagement data and designing interventions to reduce burnout, improve retention, and enhance satisfaction.
  • • Establish and sustain regular communication channels between physician leadership and the broader clinical workforce to foster alignment and transparency.
  • • Partner with People/HR on physician workforce strategy, including retention planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • • Model the clinical values and professional standards expected across Solace’s physician team, reinforcing culture through consistent leadership behavior.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data, Marketing, Operations, and Clinical Recruiting teams to align clinical goals with company-wide objectives.
  • • Operate in a high-growth, tech-forward healthcare environment with autonomy, urgency, and precision to meet the demands of a rapidly scaling startup.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Active, unrestricted medical license
  • • Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine
  • • Minimum 5 years of direct patient care experience
  • • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing physicians or medical directors, including building layered leadership teams for >1k clinicians
  • • Familiarity with multi-state medical licensing and credentialing standards (NCQA, JC, etc.)
  • • Demonstrated experience overseeing clinical quality, peer review, or patient safety programs at an organizational level
