Founded by AI luminaries Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, Andromeda is democratizing access to scaled AI infrastructure, enabling early-stage startups and leading AI labs to harness the power of hyperscale compute. Our mission is to build the liquidity layer for global AI compute, and we are rapidly expanding our reach and capabilities.

You will be instrumental in transitioning our platform from a fast-paced, hustle-driven environment to a robust, scalable, and automated system, all while preserving the agility and high-performance culture that has brought us this far. This role demands a rare blend of deep technical expertise, strategic foresight, and exceptional organizational patience.
• • As the VP of Engineering, you will own the critical pillars of our technical organization:
• • **Platform Development and Architecture:** You will be responsible for the architecture, development, and operational excellence of our core platform components: Andromeda Cloud (customer-facing experience for workload provisioning and management), Andromeda Rails (the intelligence layer for workload matching, monitoring, utilization, and SLA enforcement), and Andromeda OS (the supply-side system for onboarding, benchmarking, monitoring, and monetizing GPU infrastructure). Your success will be measured by delivering a world-class developer experience, enabling frictionless supply onboarding, and creating automated, efficient matching between compute supply and demand.
• • **Customer Solutions and Support:** Engineering plays a pivotal role in customer success at Andromeda. You will hold ultimate accountability for platform stability, performance, and uptime. This includes establishing best practices in incident response, observability, and post-mortems, driving DevOps and SRE excellence, and transforming customer pain points into rapid, impactful product improvements. The focus here is on clear ownership and swift, effective responses, not on introducing burdensome processes.
• • **Technical Partnership with Revenue Generation:** Engineering is a fundamental enabler of revenue growth. You will serve as a key technical partner, supporting large, complex, and high-stakes deals with deep technical credibility. This involves translating intricate customer needs into concrete architectural solutions, developing essential tools, benchmarks, and Proofs of Concept (POCs) to accelerate sales cycles, and equipping our Go-To-Market (GTM) teams with accurate technical materials and strategic guardrails. You will be the crucial link, closing the loop between customer feedback and our product roadmap, regularly engaging with senior technical leaders at leading AI labs, enterprises, OEMs, and cloud providers.
• • **Engineering Organization Growth and Culture:** You will be tasked with building and nurturing a small, elite, high-trust engineering team. This involves attracting and hiring exceptional engineers who possess strong judgment and a deep sense of ownership, strategically placing the right individuals in the right roles, and establishing clear priorities and technical direction. A key aspect of this role is to avoid premature process implementation while rigorously enforcing accountability. This environment thrives on collaboration, innovation, and mutual respect, free from bureaucracy, politics, or ego.
• • **Security and Compliance Leadership:** You will serve as the executive owner of platform trust and security. This includes leading our efforts towards SOC 2 Type II and ISO readiness and certification, defining robust security architectures across our platform, infrastructure, and data layers, managing third-party risk and vendor security, and supporting enterprise and government procurement processes. You will develop a scalable compliance roadmap that enhances security without impeding innovation.
• • Your approach to change will be deliberate and collaborative. You will not initiate immediate product development pauses or large-scale hiring sprees. Instead, your initial focus will be on adding tangible value and earning the trust of the team within the first few weeks. You will dedicate significant time to understanding the business, the team dynamics, and building strong relationships. Process improvements, structure enhancements, and hiring plans will be introduced incrementally, with clear rationale and active team input, ensuring the organization can adapt at a sustainable pace.
• • Success in your first year will be defined by becoming a deeply trusted leader within the engineering team, possessing a comprehensive understanding of our product, market, and systems. The platform will be demonstrably stable, performant, and scaling effectively with demand, ensuring a reliable and responsive customer experience. Supply onboarding processes will become increasingly automated, and the sales team will be empowered to close larger, more complex deals with robust technical backing. The engineering organization will be aligned, energized, and executing with clarity. Furthermore, SOC 2 Type II and ISO certifications will be completed or well underway.
• • This role is ideal for a leader who is passionate about modern AI infrastructure, possesses a proven track record in architecting, building, and operating complex infrastructure or developer platforms, and thrives in both zero-to-one and one-to-scale environments. You must be a strong systems thinker with sound judgment, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and possess the technical credibility to engage effectively with customers, partners, and senior technical stakeholders. Experience with reliability-critical systems and a foundational understanding of enterprise security and compliance are essential.
