  • • Own and maintain the company’s 3-statement financial model built specifically for a product-led growth (PLG) SaaS business, with bottoms-up modeling by product surface and self-serve cohort.
  • • Lead GTM finance by analyzing marketing spend ROI by channel, customer profitability by segment, and renewals/expansion forecasting in partnership with Customer Success leadership.
  • • Drive sales productivity analysis as the sales motion evolves, partnering with Sales and Marketing to optimize efficiency through data-driven tradeoffs.
  • • Own unit economics modeling including LTV, CAC, payback period, gross margin by cohort, NRR, and GRR — tailored to a PLG funnel with no sales team dependency.
  • • Lead financial modeling for all pricing and packaging changes, serving as the primary financial advisor to Product and the CEO before any pricing levers are pulled.
  • • Manage AI/LLM inference costs as a first-class P&L line item: build forecasting models tied to usage volume, model mix, and product decisions; partner directly with Engineering on optimization opportunities.
  • • Oversee cloud infrastructure and COGS management, including GCP cost analysis, gross margin engineering, and forecasting to protect profitability as AI usage scales.
  • • Identify and execute high-leverage strategic finance projects autonomously — including market sizing, build-vs-buy analysis, international expansion modeling, and comp band design support.
  • • Define and standardize key financial KPIs and reporting standards across the company; spec dashboards for the data team to build while owning the metrics’ integrity and interpretation.
  • • Serve as the CEO’s trusted “numbers brain” — providing the second opinion on every meaningful financial decision, uncovering hidden assumptions, and reframing decisions through unit economics.
  • • Draft the financial narrative for board presentations, investors, and potential acquirers, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic alignment.
  • • Manage 13-week cash forecasts, headcount planning, comp modeling, and sales productivity metrics without delegating ownership.
  • • Delegate low-leverage operational tasks to vendors: monthly close, GAAP accounting, AR, deferred revenue, stock-based comp, and ASC 606 work handled by Pilot; tax by Sphere; payroll, equity, and EOR by Rippling.
  • • Maintain existing finance tech stack (billing, expense management, procurement) without overhauling systems unless a compelling, high-impact reason exists.
  • • Avoid building a finance team; operate as a one- or two-person function leveraging AI tools and vendor partnerships to maximize impact per head.
  • • Apply pragmatic, test-and-learn thinking: introduce process only where lack of structure is causing harm; prioritize experimentation over rigid financial controls when learning value outweighs precision.
  • • Actively use AI tooling to compress workload, automate analysis, and enhance decision speed — not as a buzzword, but as a daily operational lever.
  • • Lead with low ego: influence through data, collaboration, and action — never through hierarchy or edict.
  • • Understand Fathom’s operational reality before proposing changes; resist the urge to restructure charts of accounts or enforce GAAP compliance where it adds no strategic value.
  • • Balance discipline in financial modeling with flexibility to run experiments whose ROI is uncertain but potentially transformative.

  • • Pragmatic mindset focused on high-leverage impact over process perfection; no interest in revising revenue recognition or restructuring accounting systems without clear ROI
  • • Demonstrated ability to serve as the CEO’s trusted “numbers brain,” providing second opinions, uncovering model flaws, and reframing decisions with unit economics
  • • Hands-on technical fluency: building models directly, writing SQL, analyzing GCP bills line by line, and avoiding delegation of core financial analysis
  • • Active, practical use of AI tooling to reduce workload and accelerate decision-making
  • • Low-ego, collaborative leadership style focused on influence through action, not authority
