- • The VP of Operations at SandboxAQ serves as the operational architect for the AI Simulation business unit, driving rigorous processes and transformative impact by scaling infrastructure, developing capacity planning, and leading high-EQ team leadership across BioSim and ChemSim divisions.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include providing operational support to BioSim and ChemSim, optimizing talent density and capacity across PhDs, SWEs, and GTM specialists, managing multi-million dollar compute budgets, establishing milestone tracking standards, conducting root-cause analysis on workflow and team friction, and leading the Chemical Simulation unit’s expansion into verticals like batteries, catalysis, and semiconductors.
- • SandboxAQ is a high-growth AI company spun out of Alphabet in 2022, delivering Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) to solve global challenges in life sciences, finance, cybersecurity, and more. - • In this role, you will build and scale a division defining the future of AI-driven science, gain COO-level purview over two ambitious divisions, develop expertise in scaling AI/LLM tools for internal automation, navigate complex B2B and government partnerships, and strengthen your ability to influence cross-functional teams through high-EQ leadership during rapid growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience in operational leadership, including tenure as a COO, Managing Director, or Head of Ops at venture-backed scaled startups, with a proven track record of scaling companies from Series B to mature operations or successful exits.
- • Deep familiarity with AI or heavy-compute environments, with the ability to translate the needs of Research Scientists and Executives into tactical execution against business requirements.
- • A 'Builder-Operator' mindset with the ability to pivot instantly from deep-dive spreadsheet/Jira analysis to board-level strategic planning.
- • Proven expertise in conducting root-cause analysis on both operational delivery failures and human dynamics (attrition, team friction) within multidisciplinary teams.
