- • As the VP of Underwriting at CrossCountry Mortgage, you will play a critical leadership role in maintaining and elevating underwriting standards across a national distributed retail mortgage lender serving all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Your expertise will directly support service level agreements, ensure compliance with agency guidelines, and drive operational excellence in a high-growth, award-winning company recognized for its entrepreneurial culture and commitment to employee development.
- • You will lead a team of 5–10 underwriting professionals, providing day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and escalation support while overseeing second-level reviews of complex conventional and government loans (FHA, VA, USDA). Your responsibilities include monitoring underwriting pipelines, managing department reports, ensuring SLA adherence, and collaborating with operations and sales teams to uphold exceptional customer service standards through clear, timely communication via phone and email.

- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in mortgage underwriting compliance, ATR/QM requirements, and agency guidelines while developing leadership and strategic project management skills. 🎯 Requirements
- • Direct Endorsement status from HUD and/or SAR authority from VA, with experience in USDA loan underwriting preferred.
- • 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional) with strong knowledge of agency guidelines, plus 3+ years of underwriting management experience.
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Encompass LOS experience is a plus; working knowledge of ATR/QM requirements and compliance/disclosure standards required.
