đź“‹ Description
- • As the Manager of Payment Operations at WeTravel, you will lead a globally distributed team responsible for ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant payment processing for thousands of travel organizers and over a million travelers annually. This role is critical to WeTravel’s mission of empowering small travel businesses to thrive online by eliminating payment friction and enabling seamless financial operations at scale.
- • You will manage the day-to-day activities of the Payment Operations team, including task allocation, performance tracking, 1:1s, and oversight of recurring operational duties such as 1099-K filings and monthly reconciliations. You will serve as the escalation point for complex customer payment issues, working directly with customers via chat, email, or phone to resolve disputes, failed transactions, and reconciliation discrepancies while coordinating with internal teams and external payment service providers (PSPs).
- • You will drive continuous improvement by leading process optimization initiatives across the payment lifecycle, collaborating with Product, Compliance Ops, Customer Support, Sales, and Business Intelligence to enhance system efficiency, reduce manual work, and improve customer satisfaction and retention. This includes conducting regular risk and compliance reviews, recommending control enhancements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- • You will act as a key liaison between WeTravel and its PSPs, negotiating service levels, troubleshooting integration issues, and ensuring alignment on fraud prevention, settlement timelines, and payout accuracy. Your ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish (C1 or higher) will be essential in supporting our diverse customer base and partner network across the Americas and Europe.
- • You will mentor and develop team members through coaching, upskilling initiatives, and cross-functional project leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, empathy, and continuous learning. Your leadership will help build resilience in the team to handle ambiguity, adapt to changing payment landscapes, and maintain high service standards during peak travel seasons or unexpected disruptions.
- • You will gain deep exposure to global payment ecosystems, risk management frameworks, and SaaS-based fintech operations while contributing directly to WeTravel’s growth trajectory from $1B to $10B in annual travel volume. This role offers the opportunity to shape payment strategy, influence product roadmap through operational insights, and grow as a leader in a mission-driven, innovative, and internationally diverse organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in payments, risk, or compliance operations within SaaS, marketplaces/platforms, eCommerce, online gaming/gambling, fintechs, or payment processing, including at least 2 years of direct people management.
- • Advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish (C1 or higher) in written and verbal communication, with proven ability to engage customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners effectively.
- • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience managing customer escalations, analyzing payment failures, and driving process improvements using data analysis tools such as Excel, Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 100% employer-covered HDHP medical, DHMO dental, and standard vision plans (or equivalent alternatives) for US-based team members.
- • Employer-sponsored 401(k) plan with a 2% company match to support long-term retirement savings.
- • Generous "Time to Recharge" policy offering unlimited paid time off, plus extensive paid family leave and three paid volunteer days annually.
- • Amsterdam Program: opportunity to work from WeTravel’s HQ in Amsterdam for 2–4 weeks per year, with accommodation provided in company apartments.
- • Provision for cutting-edge remote work equipment and tools, including coverage for certain WFH expenses to ensure productivity and comfort.
- • Two-week structured cross-functional onboarding program to accelerate integration and understanding of WeTravel’s mission, products, and teams.
