As the leading pioneer of the mobile webcomic format, WEBTOON Entertainment has revolutionized the comics industry and visual storytelling for both fans and creators. • • This critical 12-month temporary role, based in our Los Angeles office with a potential for extension, will serve as the primary steward of our North American IT expenditure across both WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. (WEI) and Wattpad. Your core mission will be to ensure our IT spending is meticulously organized, consistently predictable, and rigorously governed. You will be instrumental in maintaining and updating IT budgets, overseeing the entire lifecycle of day-to-day purchasing activities – from initial purchase requests through to final invoice processing. A significant aspect of your contribution will involve transforming disparate cost data into clear, actionable reports and insightful analyses for our IT and Finance leadership.
• • This is far more than a transactional order-processing position. A key responsibility will be the thorough review of IT spending requests, encompassing tools, software licenses, and hardware equipment. You will be tasked with evaluating each request to determine its true fitness-for-purpose and appropriateness within our organizational context. This involves a deep understanding of our existing technology stack, adherence to established IT standards, and strict compliance with budget constraints. You will function as a strategic partner to internal teams, proactively engaging them with clarifying questions, constructively challenging and redirecting requests when similar or identical functionality already exists within our ecosystem, and guiding stakeholders towards the most cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
• • Strengthening operational efficiency through strategic tool rationalization and standardization is a fundamental objective of this role. You will play an active part in identifying redundancies, evaluating the efficacy of current tools, and recommending consolidation or standardization opportunities to optimize our IT investments and streamline workflows. This proactive approach to IT asset management will contribute significantly to our company's financial health and operational agility.
• • This position requires a hybrid work arrangement, necessitating regular in-office days at our current Los Angeles location. Please note that fully remote work is not an option for this role. The office is slated for a relocation to El Segundo in 2026 (timing subject to change), and you will be expected to transition to the new El Segundo office following the move.
• • Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your experience, as you will work closely with stakeholders located in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Korea. To facilitate seamless global teamwork and ensure timely communication, flexibility to attend meetings outside of standard local business hours, such as early mornings or evenings, will be essential. Your ability to navigate different time zones and maintain effective communication channels will be vital to the success of this role and the teams you support.
• • Key responsibilities will include:
• • Meticulously tracking and updating IT budgets for WEI and Wattpad, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial plans.
• • Managing the end-to-end procurement process for IT-related goods and services, from requisition to invoice approval.
• • Conducting detailed reviews of IT spending requests, assessing their necessity, alignment with strategic goals, and cost-effectiveness.
• • Identifying opportunities for tool rationalization, standardization, and cost savings within the IT infrastructure.
• • Developing and generating clear, concise reports and dashboards to visualize IT spend, budget adherence, and procurement trends.
• • Collaborating with IT and Finance teams to provide insights and recommendations for budget optimization and procurement strategies.
• • Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding IT procurement policies and procedures.
• • Maintaining accurate records of IT assets, licenses, and contracts.
• • Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and financial regulations.
• • Supporting ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required by the IT and Finance departments.
• • Fostering strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and service levels.
• • Proactively identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and presenting them to management.
• • Contributing to the development and refinement of IT procurement best practices.
• • Assisting in the preparation of budget forecasts and variance analyses.
• • Ensuring timely and accurate processing of all IT-related invoices and payments.
• • Performing vendor performance reviews and managing vendor relationships.
• • Staying informed about market trends and best practices in IT procurement and budget management.
• • Supporting the IT department in strategic planning related to technology investments.
• • Facilitating communication and collaboration between IT, Finance, and various business units on procurement matters.
• • Contributing to a culture of financial accountability and operational excellence within the IT department.
