  • • Serve as a Wolof-English Video-Phone Interpreter to facilitate real-time verbal communication between Wolof and English speakers across critical industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, education, insurance, finance, and utilities.
  • • Render meaning accurately and neutrally during video and audio interpreting sessions, adhering to established interpretation protocols without omissions, additions, or personal commentary.
  • • Maintain professional demeanor and cultural sensitivity while interpreting emotionally intense or high-stakes conversations, such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters involving sexual orientation or gender expression.
  • • Respond promptly to on-demand interpreting requests, ensuring timely and accurate communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals.
  • • Use a dedicated personal device—such as a laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone—with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or Android operating systems to conduct interpretation and enter required data during sessions.
  • • Participate in mandatory paid professional training sessions, including online, video, and audio-based instruction, to develop and refine interpreting skills and industry-specific terminology.
  • • Remain calm and composed during high-volume call periods or extended calls, where breaks may not be available due to the urgency or nature of the interaction.
  • • Interpret in both Wolof and English with clear pronunciation, proper enunciation, and appropriate linguistic and cultural conventions, accounting for regional accents and dialects.
  • • Adhere strictly to client protocols, avoiding direct interaction with LEP individuals unless explicitly permitted by the client organization.
  • • Maintain a quiet, secure, and distraction-free home office environment suitable for confidential interpreting sessions.
  • • Operate a headset for prolonged periods and remain stationary at a computer workstation with webcam access for the majority of the workday.
  • • Demonstrate ability to type efficiently and accurately using a keyboard and mouse to log session data as required by company systems.
  • • Uphold strict confidentiality and neutrality throughout all interpreting assignments, even when dealing with sensitive or traumatic subject matter.
  • • Comply with all LanguageLine Solutions technology updates and system enhancements designed to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • • Exhibit cultural competency by understanding and adapting to regional and linguistic nuances between Wolof-speaking populations and English-speaking service providers.
  • • Follow all safety, security, and compliance standards in accordance with ASTM and ISO certified interpreting environments.
  • • Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours, ensuring reliable service for clients nationwide.
  • • Collaborate with Senior Language Specialists and Interpreter and Technology Help Desks for ongoing support and professional guidance.
  • • Contribute to an inclusive, diverse, and equitable work environment while respecting all cultural backgrounds and identities.
  • • Meet physical demands including manual dexterity for typing, lifting up to 26 lbs if necessary, and enduring moderate noise levels from computer and audio equipment.
  • • Understand and comply with all U.S. federal, state, and local employment regulations regarding remote work and interpreter conduct.
