- • The Workday Engineer role at OpenAI is critical to building and maintaining the technical foundation that powers HR, recruiting, payroll, benefits, and performance operations, enabling scalable and reliable people systems that support the mission of developing safe and beneficial AGI.
- • Day to day, the engineer will design, build, and maintain Workday integrations and workflow automations; improve system reliability and scalability through engineering best practices; connect Workday with internal platforms, external vendors, and AI-powered tooling; use Git-based development and CLI-driven workflows to deliver changes safely; and partner with cross-functional teams in People, Finance, Security, and Engineering to translate business needs into durable technical solutions.
- • The People Systems team operates at the intersection of HR systems, software engineering, and internal tooling, focused on creating durable technical leverage that goes beyond keeping systems running to enabling innovation and efficiency across the organization.
- • In this role, the engineer will deepen expertise in enterprise HR systems engineering, gain experience integrating AI-driven tooling with core HR platforms, contribute to agentic workflow design, and establish standards for observability, security, and maintainability in high-stakes people systems.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5-10 years of experience in Workday engineering, integrations, platform automation, or adjacent systems engineering roles
- • Strong hands-on experience with Workday technologies such as EIB, Studio, Cloud Connect, Extend, reporting, calculated fields, security, and business process design
- • A track record of building technical solutions beyond administration or configuration, including automation, scripting, debugging, and systems design
- • Comfort working in Git-based environments with modern software development practices
- • Strong fluency with CLI-based workflows and developer tools
- • Experience designing and supporting production integrations with a high bar for reliability, security, and data quality
