Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • • Shape the voice of culture: As a contract writer for Nexus, you will craft narratives that turn abstract organizational values into vivid, lived experiences. Every article, micro-copy line, and campaign script you produce will help employees see themselves inside the company’s purpose and feel proud to belong.
  • • Own the editorial calendar: You will plan, pitch, and deliver 6–8 long-form pieces per month (1,200–2,000 words each) plus weekly short-form content (300–600 words) for blogs, newsletters, intranet spotlights, and executive communications. You’ll balance evergreen culture topics with rapid-response stories that celebrate real-time wins.
  • • Interview and illuminate: You will conduct 30- to 45-minute virtual interviews with employees at every level—from frontline teams to the C-suite—then translate their insights into authentic, jargon-free prose. Your ability to listen for emotion, humor, and nuance will turn ordinary moments into compelling proof of a thriving culture.
  • • Translate strategy into story: Working from discovery decks and culture frameworks created by our strategists, you will convert dense research findings into accessible narratives. Expect to collaborate with designers to pair your words with visuals that amplify impact across digital, print, and video channels.
  • • Champion inclusive language: You will apply a DEI lens to every draft, ensuring gender-neutral, culturally sensitive, and globally relevant wording. You’ll maintain an evolving style guide that sets the tone for all client communications and train junior freelancers on its use.
  • • Optimize for engagement: You will use basic SEO and headline-testing principles to maximize readership without sacrificing authenticity. Monthly analytics reviews will guide iterative improvements in voice, format, and channel selection.
  • • Rapid-fire collaboration: You will join daily 15-minute stand-ups and weekly 60-minute creative sprints via Zoom or Slack huddles. Expect fast feedback loops—edits often return within 24 hours—and the thrill of seeing your words live within days, not months.
  • • Flex across industries: One week you may craft a story about psychological safety for a biotech startup; the next, a recognition campaign for a 100-year-old manufacturer. Your intellectual curiosity and research skills will let you pivot quickly while maintaining Nexus’s signature warmth and clarity.
  • • Protect confidentiality: You will handle sensitive employee stories and proprietary culture data with the utmost discretion, signing NDAs and following secure file-sharing protocols.
  • • Grow the Nexus network: Exceptional contributors are invited to join quarterly virtual roundtables with our global roster of strategists, filmmakers, and illustrators, opening doors to future engagements and full-time opportunities.
