- • Serve as a Yiddish-English telephone interpreter for clients across healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, insurance, financial, utilities, travel & hospitality, and general business sectors.
- • Render verbal interpretations between Yiddish and English speakers accurately, without omissions, additions, or personal commentary, adhering to established interpretation protocols.
- • Maintain professional demeanor and neutrality during all interpreting sessions, especially when handling emotionally charged or high-stress calls such as end-of-life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters involving sexual orientation or gender expression.
- • Respond promptly to on-demand interpreting requests and remain available during scheduled work hours to meet client service demands.
- • Operate in a secure, quiet home-office environment with no background noise or distractions during interpretation sessions.
- • Apply cultural competency to navigate regional dialects, accents, and cultural nuances to ensure effective communication with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.
- • Use precise terminology appropriate to medical, legal, financial, and emergency service contexts while maintaining clarity, proper pronunciation, and polite expressions in both languages.
- • Remain calm and composed during fast-paced or chaotic interpreting scenarios, including emergency 911 calls, where speakers may be incoherent, distressed, or under duress.
- • Follow all client-specific instructions and protocols, including refraining from direct interaction with LEP individuals without explicit client permission.
- • Adapt to new LanguageLine Solutions technologies and system enhancements designed to improve service delivery and client compliance.
- • Maintain accurate note-taking and retention skills to ensure high-fidelity interpretation of complex, technical, or non-technical conversations.
- • Demonstrate commitment to an inclusive, diverse, and culturally sensitive work environment in all interactions.
- • Meet technical requirements including a dedicated personal device (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, Android, iOS), high-speed internet with minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, ≤300 ms ping, and ≤30 ms jitter.
- • Avoid use of restricted hardware or software, including Kaspersky products and Huawei devices.
- • Perform job duties while seated at a computer for the majority of the workday, with ability to operate keyboard, mouse, and company software systems.
- • Maintain manual dexterity to type or write as needed.
- • Be available for extended call durations without breaks due to the nature of emergency or high-volume interpreting sessions.
- • Understand and comply with all company policies, including confidentiality, data security, and ethical interpretation standards.
- • Successfully complete any required pre-employment background check or drug screen based on location.

- • Fluency in Yiddish and English with demonstrated cultural competency in both languages
- • High school diploma or equivalent
- • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
- • Minimum 18 years of age
