- • Serve as a Zapoteco-English telephone interpreter, providing real-time verbal interpretation between Zapoteco and English speakers across multiple industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, insurance, finance, and education.
- • Render spoken content accurately and completely, adhering strictly to established interpretation protocols without adding, omitting, or altering meaning during interactions.
- • Maintain a professional, courteous, and neutral demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions, even during high-stress or emotionally intense situations such as emergency calls, end-of-life conversations, or discussions involving sensitive topics like pregnancy termination, vaccination, or gender expression.
- • Respond promptly to on-demand interpreting calls and ensure punctual availability during scheduled work hours.
- • Demonstrate deep cultural competency by recognizing regional dialects, accent differences, and cultural nuances to facilitate effective communication with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.
- • Utilize industry-specific terminology accurately in both Zapoteco and English, including medical, legal, financial, and emergency response vocabulary.
- • Remain detached from the conversation, avoiding direct interaction with the LEP individual unless explicitly permitted by the client.
- • Work exclusively from a dedicated home office with a quiet, secure, and distraction-free environment conducive to confidential interpreting.
- • Operate assigned technology platforms, including desktops, laptops, tablets, or smartphones running Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or Android, ensuring compliance with company-approved devices and software.
- • Maintain a reliable high-speed internet connection with minimum download speeds of 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping under 300 ms, and jitter under 30 ms.
- • Adhere to strict security protocols, avoiding use of restricted hardware (Huawei) or software (Kaspersky products).
- • Perform all interpreting duties without written translation duties, focusing solely on real-time verbal interpretation.
- • Maintain high levels of concentration, retention, and note-taking accuracy during fast-paced or complex interpreting sessions.
- • Adapt to evolving LanguageLine technology systems and service delivery enhancements to meet client needs and industry standards.
- • Be available to handle extended calls without breaks when necessary due to call volume or urgency, particularly in emergency or crisis scenarios.
- • Uphold company standards for service quality, cultural sensitivity, and professional conduct in a diverse, global environment.
- • Operate a keyboard and mouse for extended periods, with sufficient manual dexterity to type or take notes as needed.
- • Work in a stationary position for the majority of the workday and be exposed to moderate noise levels from audio, computer, and telephone systems.
- • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including passing any required post-offer background checks or drug screenings based on location.
