📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end quality of Actian’s Zen embedded database engine (v15), ensuring that every line of code meets the reliability standards demanded by 24×7 mission-critical deployments.
• • Design, extend, and maintain Python-driven automated test harnesses that exercise Zen across Windows and Linux, adding new test cases for every feature, patch, and performance enhancement.
• • Debug complex test failures by diving into core dumps, log files, and performance traces; isolate root causes and work hand-in-hand with development and sustaining engineering to drive fixes to closure.
• • Execute both automated regression suites and targeted manual test scenarios that validate low-level data-management internals (B-Tree structures, key-value stores, SQL dialects, ODBC/JDBC access paths) under extreme load and edge-case conditions.
• • Participate actively in requirements analysis, design reviews, and code reviews, translating functional specs into comprehensive test strategies that leave no corner of the product untested.
• • Continuously improve the testing infrastructure—refactor brittle harnesses, optimize test-data generation, and introduce new tooling (log analyzers, performance profilers) to shorten feedback loops and raise quality gates.
• • Act as the first line of defense against defects escaping to customers; triage issues reported by global support teams, reproduce them in-house, and verify permanent resolutions before GA releases.
• • Collaborate with DevOps to spin up reproducible test environments on vSphere virtual machines, ensuring consistent hardware and OS configurations across development, QA, and customer-replica labs.
• • Champion a culture of quality by mentoring junior engineers, documenting best practices, and evangelizing test-driven development principles throughout the Zen engineering organization.
• • Drive data-driven decisions: mine test-result history, defect metrics, and performance benchmarks to identify risk hotspots and prioritize test coverage investments.
• • Maintain security and compliance focus by validating encryption, access-control, and audit-logging features that protect sensitive customer data handled by Zen in embedded medical, telecom, and industrial systems.
• • Stay ahead of the technology curve by evaluating emerging test frameworks, container orchestration tools, and cloud-native deployment patterns that could future-proof Zen’s QA lifecycle.
