📋 Description
- • Senior Software Engineer - Web Fullstack role at The Economist Group Limited, focused on designing and building high-quality web products and services that power global insights delivery to 1.2 million subscribers.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, building, and evolving scalable web applications across the stack; developing responsive, accessible, high-performance frontends using React and Next.js; building and maintaining backend services and APIs; owning performance across frontend and backend; driving best practices in testing, observability, and CI/CD; collaborating with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams; and contributing to technical direction while mentoring engineers.

- • In this role, you will influence architecture, improve developer experience, help evolve modern cloud-native systems, and gain autonomy in a creative, entrepreneurial environment while building well-crafted, maintainable software that serves a global audience.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience in frontend and backend engineering
- • Strong fullstack experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
- • Proven experience building production applications with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Next.js)
- • Experience designing and developing APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
- • Solid understanding of modern web architecture, including SSR, static generation, and caching strategies
- • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native system design
- • Strong grasp of performance, accessibility, and scalable system design
- • Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, and infrastructure as code
- • Clear communication skills, sound judgement, and a strong sense of ownership
