- • Lead full-cycle assurance engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients across manufacturing, distribution, real estate, construction, technology, transportation, private equity, financial services, staffing, and professional services. You will own planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, wrap-up, and reporting while ensuring every engagement meets Moore Colson’s rigorous quality standards.
- • Conduct detailed audits and reviews of financial statements, employee benefit plans, and compilation engagements, preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements and footnote disclosures that withstand partner, client, and peer review scrutiny.
- • Design, document, and test internal control environments to help clients strengthen governance, mitigate risk, and satisfy lender, investor, and regulatory requirements.
- • Manage engagement economics—develop budgets, monitor realization, and proactively adjust scope and staffing to protect profitability while delivering exceptional value to clients.
- • Supervise, train, and mentor Associates and Interns by setting clear expectations, reviewing workpapers in real time, and providing actionable feedback that accelerates their technical and professional growth.
- • Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, translating complex accounting and auditing concepts into plain language, identifying pain points, and recommending practical solutions that drive measurable business improvements.
- • Partner with senior staff on special consulting projects—such as transaction readiness, process optimization, and ESG readiness—leveraging audit findings to open new revenue opportunities for the firm.
- • Invest in continuous improvement by staying current on auditing standards, industry developments, and technology enhancements; complete targeted CPE and share knowledge across the team to elevate collective expertise.
- • Champion Moore Colson’s award-winning culture by modeling integrity, collaboration, and an owner’s mindset in every interaction with colleagues, clients, and community stakeholders.
- • Travel as needed—primarily throughout the Southeast—to maintain strong client relationships and ensure seamless project execution; remote-first scheduling keeps you productive and balanced between site visits.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and an active CPA license (or CPA in progress with clear path to completion)
- • 2–4 years of progressive audit experience within a public accounting firm
- • Demonstrated experience in transportation, manufacturing, or construction industries strongly preferred
- • Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and budgets simultaneously
- • Advanced Excel skills and solid working knowledge of GAAP and audit standards
- • Proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Engagement and IDEA audit software is a plus
