ďż˝ Description
- • Own the payer-access roadmap for the western U.S. and mid-west, acting as the single point-of-contact for every Authorized Treatment Center (ATC) from Seattle to Denver to Phoenix. You will quarterback the onboarding of each ATC, ensuring that ORCA-T is written into payer medical policies before the first patient ever arrives.
- • Develop and execute a data-driven Payer Strategy for a portfolio of regional and national accounts—including Blues plans, integrated delivery networks, Medicare Advantage, State Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid—so that ORCA-T launches with favorable coverage rather than reactive appeals.
- • Translate complex clinical and economic evidence into concise value stories that resonate with Medical Directors and Pharmacy & Therapeutics committees. You will co-create slide decks, budget-impact models, and real-world evidence summaries that clearly demonstrate how Orca Bio’s high-precision cell therapy reduces transplant-related mortality and downstream costs.
- • Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Field Sales, Medical Affairs, and Case Management to identify and resolve patient access barriers in real time—whether that means securing single-case agreements, navigating prior-authorization backlogs, or designing innovative reimbursement pathways for academic centers of excellence.
- • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision makers at targeted Academic Hospitals and Health Systems, ensuring that every hematologist and transplant coordinator knows exactly how to secure coverage for ORCA-T—even when policies are still evolving.
- • Serve as the field-based subject-matter expert on all things reimbursement: payer case rates, ICD-10 coding nuances, CMS coverage determinations, and the latest OIG and FDA guidance. You will train internal teams and external stakeholders alike, turning ambiguity into clarity.
- • Track, analyze, and report KPIs—coverage rates, time-to-approval, denial overturns, and net revenue impact—via Salesforce dashboards that inform quarterly business reviews and guide resource allocation across the national Payer Field Team.
- • Collaborate with Legal, Quality, and Compliance to ensure every payer interaction, contract clause, and patient identifier is handled according to HIPAA, OIG, and CMS regulations, protecting both patients and the company.
- • Travel up to 75 % during high-intensity onboarding periods, hosting on-site workshops for finance, pharmacy, and utilization-management teams so that every ATC can operationalize coverage policies on day one.
- • Champion Orca Bio’s culture of passion, courage, and integrity—mentoring junior colleagues, celebrating diverse perspectives, and challenging the status quo with an entrepreneurial mindset that asks, “Why not?”
ďż˝ Requirements
- • Bachelor’s Degree plus 12+ years of payer, hospital, or reimbursement experience in biotech, pharma, or medical device industries
- • Established relationships with Commercial Payer Medical Directors, Medicare Part A, State Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid stakeholders
- • Demonstrated success in payer policy development, case-rate negotiations, and policy-tracking tools
- • Exceptional analytical, presentation, and storytelling skills—able to distill complex data into actionable insights
- • Proven ability to thrive in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment while traveling up to 75 %
️ Benefits
- • Fully remote flexibility within the western/mid-western region, allowing you to live where you work best
- • Opportunity to shape first-in-class cell-therapy access strategy and directly impact survival outcomes for blood-cancer patients
- • Collaborative start-up culture that values every voice and celebrates diversity as a driver of innovation
- • Competitive compensation and equity package aligned with late-stage biotech growth trajectory
