- • As an Account Manager at Instrumentl, you will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of existing nonprofit customers, driving retention, satisfaction, and expansion by helping clients deepen their use of the platform to achieve their fundraising missions. This role is critical to Instrumentl’s growth strategy, as you will directly influence customer lifetime value and contribute to the company’s cash flow positive, year-over-year doubling trajectory by turning satisfied users into advocates and expansion opportunities.
- • You will manage day-to-day relationships with Executive Directors, Development Directors, Grants Managers, and finance teams at nonprofit organizations ranging from local homeless shelters to major institutions like the San Diego Zoo and University of Alaska, ensuring they derive maximum value from Instrumentl’s grant discovery and management SaaS platform through personalized guidance, proactive check-ins, and tailored recommendations.
- • Your responsibilities will include handling inbound upgrade requests from current customers seeking to scale their usage, conducting strategic outbound outreach to identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts, and collaborating closely with Sales Managers and the VP of Sales to refine account-based strategies and contribute to the evolution of the sales motion.
- • You will act as the voice of the customer internally, sharing insights on usage patterns, feature adoption, and pain points to inform product development and customer success initiatives, while embodying Instrumentl’s mission-driven culture by conveying warmth, kindness, and competence in every interaction to strengthen trust and loyalty.
- • You will track and report on key account health metrics such as product utilization, expansion revenue, renewal likelihood, and customer satisfaction (aligned with Instrumentl’s NPS of 65+ and PMF score of 60+), using CRM tools to maintain accurate records and forecast growth opportunities within your book of business.
- • You will participate in ongoing training and enablement sessions to deepen your expertise in nonprofit fundraising workflows, grant lifecycle management, and Instrumentl’s evolving product features, enabling you to consultatively guide clients toward optimal use cases that align with their strategic goals.
- • You will join a hypergrowth, YC-backed startup where your contributions directly impact the scalability of a platform serving over 3,000 nonprofit clients, working in a remote-first environment with a team passionate about leveraging technology to amplify social impact across the continental U.S.
- • In this role, you will develop advanced skills in consultative account management, SaaS expansion strategies, and nonprofit sector engagement, positioning yourself for career growth into senior customer-facing roles such as Senior Account Manager, Customer Success Lead, or Sales Leadership as Instrumentl continues to scale its market presence.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in account management, customer success, or sales within a SaaS or technology environment, preferably serving nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations.
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with nonprofit leaders such as Executive Directors, Development Directors, and Grants Managers through empathetic, professional, and solution-oriented interactions.
- • Demonstrated ability to identify and execute expansion opportunities within existing accounts, including managing inbound upgrade requests and conducting strategic outbound outreach to drive revenue growth.
- • Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and data-driven decision making, including tracking account health metrics, forecasting expansion potential, and maintaining accurate customer records.
- • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising processes, grant management workflows, or the broader social impact sector is a strong plus, enabling faster ramp-up and more credible client conversations.
- • Self-motivated, remote-work-ready professional based in the continental U.S., capable of managing time effectively, prioritizing competing demands, and thriving in a fast-paced, hypergrowth startup environment.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote position based in the continental U.S., offering flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a mission-driven company with national impact.
- • Competitive compensation package including base salary and performance-based bonuses tied to account retention, expansion revenue, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, along with a 401(k) retirement plan with company match to support long-term financial wellness.
- • Generous paid time off (PTO) policy, company holidays, and flexible scheduling to promote work-life balance and prevent burnout in a high-impact role.
- • Professional development stipend and access to learning resources to grow your expertise in SaaS, nonprofit technology, and account management best practices.
