We are seeking a seasoned professional with a background in accounting practice – perhaps a Client Manager, Senior Accountant, or a similar role – to assume full ownership of the review and oversight of our accounting and tax service delivery to a diverse portfolio of small business clients. This role demands leadership in managing complex accounting tasks, effectively directing offshore delivery teams, and actively contributing to the professional development of junior colleagues within our fast-paced, technology-driven accounting department.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously review and formally sign off on financial accounts, tax returns, and VAT submissions that have been prepared by our outsourced delivery team. You will be the guardian of technical accuracy and ensure strict adherence to UK accounting standards, specifically FRS 102 and FRS 105, upholding the highest levels of compliance.
• • You will serve as the primary point of contact for resolving intricate technical queries and addressing complex client questions, providing clear, concise, and accurate guidance. This involves managing a dedicated portfolio of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and startup founders with the utmost professionalism, care, and client-centricity.
• • A key aspect of the role involves offering practical, actionable advice to clients on a range of critical financial matters, including corporation tax strategies, personal tax implications, optimal dividend strategies, and Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance. You will also play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring junior accountants, fostering their learning, and supporting their career progression within the team.
• • To enhance our collective knowledge and efficiency, you will contribute to maintaining a centralized knowledge base, documenting client Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and developing standardized, high-quality responses. Staying abreast of the latest changes in accounting legislation and regulatory developments is paramount, ensuring our services remain current and compliant.
• • Effective collaboration is essential; you will work closely with internal stakeholders across various departments and with our external outsourced teams to ensure seamless operations and client satisfaction. Proficiency in utilizing cloud-based accounting tools such as QuickBooks, TaxCalc, and similar platforms is expected, as these tools are integral to our workflow and data analysis, providing valuable insights.
