- • Acquisition.com is on a mission to democratize business education, providing entrepreneurs with practical, actionable knowledge to grow their ventures. We've achieved significant milestones, including building a successful advisory practice, breaking a world record for book sales, and scaling to nine figures in revenue within 18 months, all without external funding. Our culture is built on high standards, hard work, and a commitment to helping others succeed. If these principles resonate with you, you'll find a welcoming and dynamic environment here.
- • As an Accounting Manager at Acquisition.com, you will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our financial operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of critical accounting functions, contribute to our rapid growth, and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. You will be a key player in maintaining the financial health of the company, working closely with leadership and various departments to drive efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
- • The core of your responsibilities will involve overseeing the monthly and year-end closing processes. This includes ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial statements. You will meticulously review general ledger entries, identify and resolve any discrepancies, and maintain the overall integrity of our accounting records. Your diligence in these areas will be crucial for providing reliable financial insights.
- • A significant aspect of this role is providing leadership and oversight to the accounting team. You will be responsible for reviewing the output of the team, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately, on schedule, and in adherence to established processes and internal controls. This involves guiding team members, offering constructive feedback, and prioritizing tasks to maintain consistent and high-quality execution of accounting functions.
- • You will manage vendor relationships and the accounts payable process from end to end. This includes overseeing vendor setup, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, executing payment runs, and performing necessary reconciliations. Your role will be to ensure compliance with internal controls and approval policies, acting as the primary point of contact for any vendor or payment-related escalations. Furthermore, you will oversee the year-end 1099 reporting process and ensure that vendor records are complete and well-supported.
- • Managing expense reporting and corporate card usage is another key area of responsibility. You will own the entire expense management lifecycle, from corporate credit cards and employee reimbursements to ensuring all transactions are properly reviewed, coded, reconciled, and recorded. As the primary administrator for our expense management platform, Ramp, you will enforce policy, manage approvals, and serve as the go-to person for employees with questions or issues related to expense submissions, receipts, and memos.
- • Collaboration with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is essential for preparing comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This includes profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and detailed variance analysis. You will be expected to provide insightful commentary on key performance indicators (KPIs) and the overall financial health of the company, translating financial data into actionable business intelligence.
- • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documentation, and playbooks for all accounting and finance-related functions will be a critical task. This ensures consistency, scalability, and audit readiness. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust internal controls to ensure compliance and prepare the company for potential audits.
- • You will take the lead on various ad-hoc accounting projects and process improvement initiatives. This could involve enhancing payment workflows, optimizing expense and credit card platforms, implementing new reporting tools, or driving other process improvements. Your collaboration with internal teams and external vendors will be key to enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across accounting operations.
- • Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax regulations is a vital part of the role. You will work closely with external tax advisors to manage tax filings and support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax submissions, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.
- • Beyond core accounting functions, you will provide essential operational support to cross-functional initiatives. This involves conducting financial analysis, tracking KPIs, generating reports, creating documentation, and undertaking special projects that support operational execution within our fast-paced environment.
- • The ultimate goal is to establish and maintain timely, repeatable monthly closes, ideally within 5-7 business days. You will ensure financial statements are accurate, reliable, and delivered promptly to the Executive Team. Maintaining audit-ready books and controls, ensuring effective team execution, and achieving operational excellence in AP and payroll processing are paramount. You will also be responsible for creating clear documentation and playbooks for core accounting processes and successfully delivering accounting-related projects on time and within scope.
