- • Day to day, you will handle key tasks in the monthly and quarterly financial closing processes, including writing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing variances, and preparing reports; manage cash, property, equipment, and consolidated financial statements; apply ASC 340 (Deferred Contract Acquisition Costs) and ASC 842 (Leases) to ensure GAAP compliance with proper documentation; assist in preparing financial statements and management reporting for leadership visibility; support annual audits and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal filing requirements; collaborate with global accounting teams across entities and jurisdictions to deliver timely, high-quality work; identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and audit readiness; and contribute to special projects and ad hoc analyses as the business evolves.
- • You will join a finance team backed by leadership from industry leaders including Scale AI, Meta, xAI, Notion, Coinbase, and Palantir, operating within a high-growth, mission-driven culture that values precision, innovation, and scalability. The Accounting function partners closely with AP, FP&A, and Revenue teams to ensure financials are audit-ready and SOX-compliant while supporting rapid business expansion.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in complex accounting areas such as SaaS revenue recognition, equity accounting, and multi-entity consolidations; strengthen your leadership and influence by guiding remote contractors and external partners; gain hands-on experience optimizing ERP systems (particularly NetSuite) and close-management tools; and position yourself for advancement into senior finance leadership as Handshake scales toward billions in revenue.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on ownership of general ledger and month-end close activities in a high-growth or multi-entity environment
- • Robust US GAAP knowledge, including experience with ASC 340 and ASC 842, and a background in technology or SaaS accounting
- • Proven ability to improve close processes by shortening timelines, increasing accuracy, and strengthening controls, along with strong communication skills to partner effectively with FP&A and business leaders
