📋 Description

• As the first dedicated Applied AI Engineer at Upvest, you will build and lead the company's AI implementation from the ground up, directly impacting how 290+ employees work every day by identifying high-leverage AI opportunities and shipping practical solutions.
• You will integrate LLMs like Claude with internal systems via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), build end-to-end automations using tools like n8n, and connect AI tooling to Upvest’s APIs and data sources to create lightweight, scalable integrations.
• You will act as an in-house AI consultant, working 1:1 with engineers, operations, and client-facing teams to run discovery sessions, write internal playbooks, and coach colleagues on prompt engineering and AI tooling to drive real adoption.
• You will navigate the constraints of a BaFin and FCA-regulated environment, ensuring AI implementations comply with data privacy, security, and audit requirements while delivering tangible business impact.
• You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership and business functions to align AI initiatives with Upvest’s mission of simplifying investing and scaling financial infrastructure across Europe.

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on experience shipping AI agents and building end-to-end automations with tools like n8n
• Proven experience building or working with MCP servers to connect LLMs to internal tools, APIs, and data sources
• Demonstrated ability to coach non-technical teams on AI tooling and drive real adoption through training and playbooks
• 5+ years of experience in a scale-up in roles such as solutions engineer, technical consultant, or AI product engineer
• Background in fintech or a closely adjacent regulated industry with first-hand understanding of compliance constraints
