Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect the future of AI for good. As Neon One’s foundational AI Engineer, you will be the technical cornerstone of a brand-new data and AI platform purpose-built to help small and mid-sized nonprofits turn generosity into measurable impact. You will work side-by-side with a Data Architect, Data Scientist, and Data Engineer to ship production-grade AI systems that surface real-time insights, automate workflows, and unlock new fundraising strategies for thousands of mission-driven organizations.
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI features—from prompt design and RAG pipeline construction to scalable cloud deployment—without ever touching UI code. Your day-to-day will revolve around core AI building blocks: crafting prompts that coax reliable answers from large language models, stitching together retrieval-augmented generation flows that fuse structured CRM data with unstructured donor communications, and packaging those capabilities into reusable services that product teams can drop into new features.
- • Pioneer prompt engineering best practices. You will continuously experiment with prompts across OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source LLMs, measuring accuracy, latency, and cost to define internal benchmarks. When a new model drops, you’ll be the first to stress-test it against our nonprofit-specific use cases—grant writing assistance, donor segmentation narratives, and automated impact reporting—and publish findings that steer product roadmaps.
- • Build bullet-proof RAG systems. Leveraging Snowflake, S3, and vector databases, you will design retrieval layers that merge donation histories, campaign metrics, and external research into context-rich prompts. You’ll tune chunking strategies, embedding models, and reranking algorithms to ensure every answer is both lightning-fast and grounded in verifiable data—critical when a nonprofit is preparing a board presentation minutes before a meeting.
- • Establish MLOps rigor. Partner with a third-party contractor to stand up CI/CD pipelines that retrain, evaluate, and deploy models on a weekly cadence. You’ll define monitoring dashboards that track drift, hallucination rates, and cost per query, and you’ll set up automated rollback triggers so the platform stays resilient during Giving Tuesday traffic spikes.
- • Integrate with cloud AI services. Using AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and Lambda (or equivalent GCP/Azure stacks), you will containerize microservices that autoscale from ten to ten-thousand concurrent requests. You’ll create Terraform modules and CloudFormation templates so future AI use cases can spin up in hours, not weeks.
- • Influence product strategy. Present weekly demos to product owners showing how new AI capabilities can shorten grant-application time by 40 % or increase recurring-donor retention through personalized stewardship emails. Your technical insights will directly shape which features ship next quarter.
- • Champion ethical AI. Nonprofits trust us with sensitive donor data; you will embed privacy-preserving techniques—PII redaction, differential privacy, and role-based access controls—into every pipeline. You’ll also draft internal guidelines that ensure AI outputs align with each organization’s voice and values.
- • Cultivate a culture of experimentation. Run internal hackathons where teammates pitch wild AI ideas—like voice-driven donation kiosks or AI-generated thank-you videos—and then prototype the most promising concepts in 48 hours. Your enthusiasm will turn skeptics into evangelists.
- • Scale your impact. Within your first year, the systems you design will touch millions of donor interactions, translating into tens of millions of additional dollars raised for causes ranging from food security to climate action. Your code won’t just live in repos; it will power classrooms, shelters, and community centers across North America.
