📋 Description

• As the first dedicated AI Engineer in PAR Technology Corporation’s Retail R&D organization, you will play a foundational role in shaping the company’s AI strategy by architecting and deploying its first generation of AI-powered products and services, directly impacting how PAR delivers innovative solutions to over 100,000 restaurants globally.
• You will translate ambiguous business needs into production-ready AI systems by leveraging machine learning and generative AI expertise, with a focus on agentic workflows that enable autonomous task completion through tool use, retrieval, reasoning, and orchestration.
• Day to day, you will design and implement multi-agent systems, including planning, task routing, tool calling, state/memory management, approvals, retries, and safe fallbacks, using frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI to build reliable, scalable AI agents.
• You will architect and integrate AI solutions using major cloud platforms such as Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Vertex AI, ensuring seamless connectivity via REST or GraphQL APIs while applying retrieval-augmented generation techniques with vector databases and hybrid reranking for improved accuracy.
• A core part of your role will involve establishing AI operations (AI Ops) practices, including prompt/version control, evaluation pipelines with test sets and regression gates, automated testing, observability (tracing, metrics, logs), and cost/latency monitoring to ensure production readiness and long-term reliability.
• You will collaborate closely with product managers, data analysts, and business leaders to identify high-impact AI opportunities, refine proof-of-concepts, and translate requirements into technical specifications and actionable project plans that align with business KPIs.
• You will drive a culture of experimentation and continuous learning by staying current with advancements in multi-agent orchestration, agentic autonomy, and responsible AI, including defenses against prompt injection, tool misuse, and privacy/security best practices.
• In this role, you will gain deep expertise in end-to-end agentic AI system development, from zero-to-one prototyping to production hardening, while establishing engineering best practices that will influence AI adoption across PAR’s Retail technology stack.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem for AI/ML development.
• 1+ year of experience shipping AI in production, including progression from applied ML to generative AI and agentic solutions, with hands-on experience in multi-agent orchestration and MCP endpoints.
• Proven experience architecting and deploying AI services using major cloud platforms (Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI) and working with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) for data and model serving.
