📋 Description

• • Own the AI-powered developer experience for a platform trusted by 50 of the world’s largest insurers to make billion-dollar risk decisions—your tooling will directly influence how quickly and confidently they price everything from space launches to hurricane recovery.
• • Architect and ship internal AI products that eliminate toil: think GitHub Copilot-level intelligence but trained on actuarial science, regulatory filings, and hx’s own decade of pricing data, delivered through plug-ins, CLIs, and IDE extensions that engineers actually love to use.
• • Run rapid-fire experiments with frontier models (open-source and proprietary) to benchmark which combinations of prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation give the biggest lift in code quality, review speed, and test coverage—then productionise the winners.
• • Build self-service platforms that let any hx engineer spin up an AI agent in minutes: containerised sandboxes, secure credential vaults, observability dashboards, and cost-guardrails so teams can innovate without waiting on centralised gatekeepers.
• • Drive measurable productivity gains by instrumenting every workflow—track PR cycle time, test-flake reduction, and time-to-first-review—then publish transparent scorecards that celebrate wins and spotlight where the next experiment should focus.
• • Champion an AI-first culture through fortnightly “Prompt Jams,” internal blog posts, and lightning talks that demystify LLMs, share prompt-cookbooks, and showcase real stories of 10× productivity leaps across backend, data, and actuarial teams.
• • Partner with security and compliance to ensure every AI tool meets the same rigorous standards that hx applies to pricing trillion-dollar risks: SOC 2, ISO 27001, and emerging AI governance frameworks, baked in from day one.
• • Contribute back to the open-source community—hx maintains forks of popular frameworks to add insurance-specific capabilities; upstreaming your improvements keeps us at the cutting edge and attracts world-class talent.
• • Shape the long-term technical vision: define the roadmap for agentic workflows, autonomous testing, and self-healing infrastructure that will let hx double engineering throughput without doubling headcount.
• • Work fully remote across UK time zones with optional monthly London gatherings at The Ministry, a converted warehouse packed with standing desks, barista coffee, and the occasional after-hours Mario Kart tournament.
