📋 Description

• As an Android Engineer on the Growth team at OpenAI, you will help shape how millions of users discover and engage with ChatGPT's paid offerings on Android, directly impacting activation, conversion, and retention for subscription products.
• You will build and ship high-quality Android features including paywalls, upgrade prompts, purchase flows, and entitlement management, owning end-to-end development from technical design through launch and iteration while collaborating with product, design, data, and backend teams to run experiments and measure impact.
• You will join a fast-moving, hybrid team in San Francisco that sits at the intersection of product, design, engineering, and experimentation, focused on delivering intuitive mobile experiences that drive user value and business growth.
• You will contribute to the evolution of OpenAI’s Android architecture, tooling, testing practices, and engineering standards while using data and experimentation to continuously improve the paid user experience and grow your expertise in consumer-facing mobile growth engineering.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful Android experience
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
• Experience integrating backend APIs and building robust client-side architectures
• Experience using data and experimentation to inform decisions and iterate quickly
• Bonus: subscription or in-app purchase systems, growth engineering, A/B testing, Google Play Billing, entitlement management, analytics instrumentation, or consumer products at large scale
