- • We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior FinOps Engineer (L4) to join our remote team in the United States. This critical role will focus on supporting our client’s AWS cost optimization, governance, reporting, and automation initiatives.
- • In this position, you will partner closely with a FinOps Practitioner to architect, implement, and manage robust FinOps strategies, tools, and processes. Your primary objective will be to ensure cost efficiency, enhance transparency, and foster accountability across the entire cloud environment.
- • The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise, a strong DevOps mentality, and the ability to independently drive significant outcomes within a lean, high-ownership culture.
- • Your core responsibilities will include the meticulous analysis of extensive cost and usage datasets. You will identify emerging trends, detect anomalies, pinpoint inefficiencies, and uncover optimization opportunities. Crucially, you will translate these data-driven insights into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
- • You will be instrumental in designing and implementing comprehensive cost management strategies tailored to the client's specific AWS environment. This involves not just identifying savings but architecting sustainable cost-control mechanisms.
- • A key deliverable will be the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of advanced cost dashboards and visualizations. You will utilize Amazon QuickSight to create intuitive and informative reports that provide clear visibility into cloud spend for both executive and engineering teams.
- • You will take full ownership of FinOps initiatives from inception to completion. This includes meticulous planning, diligent execution, rigorous validation of results, comprehensive documentation, and proactive communication with all relevant stakeholders.
- • Implementing and enforcing standardized tagging strategies will be essential for accurate cost allocation and detailed reporting. You will ensure that resources are correctly categorized to enable precise financial tracking.
- • You will be empowered to implement changes and optimize AWS environments directly, requiring minimal to no involvement from SRE or Infrastructure teams, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy and technical capability.
- • Developing and maintaining automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell will be a significant part of your role, streamlining cost optimization, reporting, and governance workflows.
- • You will conduct in-depth analysis of AWS and containerized workloads, specifically focusing on Amazon EKS and serverless architectures, to identify cost-saving opportunities. This includes recommending and implementing rightsizing, autoscaling, and workload optimization strategies.
- • You will leverage AWS SDKs, APIs, and the AWS CLI to build sophisticated automation workflows that enhance cloud operations and enforce cost governance policies.
- • Developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform is a core requirement, enabling the deployment of cost-efficient, compliant, and repeatable cloud architectures.
- • You will utilize GitLab for version control of your code, managing CI/CD workflows, and building automation pipelines for FinOps tooling and infrastructure modifications.
- • Work item management within Jira will be crucial, involving ticket creation, effort estimation, sprint tracking, and ensuring delivery aligns with project objectives.
- • You will be responsible for ensuring that sprint commitments are meticulously planned, continuously tracked, and successfully completed in alignment with defined sprint goals.
- • Setting up and configuring monitoring, alerting, and governance controls using AWS native tools such as CloudWatch, AWS Trusted Advisor, and AWS Cost Explorer is a key responsibility.
- • You will generate and automate reports detailing cost trends, anomalies, potential risks, and realized savings, providing valuable insights to stakeholders.
- • A proactive approach to identifying gaps, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement beyond the immediate scope of assigned tasks is highly valued.
🎯 Requirements
