- • As an Applied AI Engineer at PermitFlow, you will design and deploy AI agents that power the company’s pre-construction platform, directly contributing to accelerating housing, clean-energy, and infrastructure development by reducing compliance time and de-risking projects in the $1.6T construction industry.
- • Day to day, you will develop and deploy end-to-end AI agents for permitting workflows, orchestrate multi-model systems, build internal tools and infrastructure for monitoring and evaluation, design backend/frontend services and APIs, contribute to core platform architecture, and optimize inference pipelines for speed, scalability, and cost.
- • PermitFlow is a fast-growing applied AI company backed by top-tier investors including Accel, Kleiner Perkins, Y Combinator, and OpenAI leaders, headquartered in NYC with a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office), serving builders nationwide with AI-driven permitting, licensing, and inspection solutions.
- • In this role, you will gain deep expertise in production AI/ML systems, agentic workflows, and full-stack platform engineering while shaping the core technology that enables reindustrialization across data centers, housing, factories, and renewables.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years in software or ML engineering post-BS/MS
- • Hands-on experience shipping production AI/ML systems or AI-powered products
- • Experience building multi-step ML systems, pipelines, or agentic workflows
- • Strong backend and API development skills, with some frontend experience
- • Track record of building reliable products with attention to quality and detail
- • Startup grit and comfort in fast-moving, evolving environments
