📋 Description

• Own and manage the full corporate accounting close process to meet public company timelines, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting on a monthly basis.
• Lead all aspects of general ledger accounting, including close activities, consolidations, and journal entry reviews to maintain accounting integrity.
• Administer payroll processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely disbursements across all jurisdictions.
• Execute technical accounting responsibilities, applying U.S. GAAP with strong judgment to complex transactions and accounting standards.
• Develop, document, and maintain financial policies and internal controls to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review detailed fluctuation analyses of financial results, identifying trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating PBCs, managing audit requests, and resolving audit findings promptly.
• Partner with Strategic Finance and FP&A teams to deliver clear, data-driven narratives on actuals versus budget/forecast and improve forecast-to-close alignment.
• Assist in preparing monthly CFO and CAO reporting packages, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and executive-level relevance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a scalable accounting team, providing ongoing guidance on day-to-day tasks and career growth opportunities.
• Drive the modernization of accounting operations by implementing AI-powered tools to automate manual workflows, surface insights faster, and enhance process scalability.
• Contribute to broader finance transformation initiatives, including system enhancements, standardization of workflows, and design of AI-first operating models.
• Ensure financial reporting systems and processes scale with Zip’s rapid growth while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.
• Maintain strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, procurement, and legal teams to align accounting practices with business innovations.
• Continuously evaluate and improve accounting controls and procedures to mitigate risk and support Zip’s high-growth trajectory.
• Leverage AI tools for research, reporting automation, and workflow optimization to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy across accounting functions.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in high-growth environments
• Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, with strong judgment in complex accounting areas
• Experience using AI tools for research, reporting, or workflow automation
• Exceptional ability to communicate and present complex financial topics clearly to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
• Proven ability to independently drive complex projects under ambiguity and deliver results
