- • Drive revenue growth for Axios by owning the full-cycle sales process—from prospecting and discovery to pitch, negotiation, and close—for a portfolio of national and regional brands across technology, finance, healthcare, consumer goods, and public-affairs verticals.
- • Become an expert on Axios’ differentiated Smart Brevity® editorial format and proprietary audience insights, translating them into high-impact media plans that solve real business problems for CMOs, brand managers, and agency partners.
- • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through outbound prospecting (cold email, LinkedIn, phone, referrals) and inbound lead follow-up, consistently exceeding quarterly and annual revenue targets.
- • Collaborate daily with Axios’ award-winning newsroom, branded-content studio, events team, and product marketing to package multi-touch campaigns that span newsletters, podcasts, video, live events, and first-party data segments.
- • Deliver compelling virtual and in-person presentations that articulate Axios’ value proposition, showcase case-study results, and map our solutions to each prospect’s KPIs—whether the goal is awareness, lead generation, or thought-leadership.
- • Use Salesforce, Tableau, and internal dashboards to track funnel metrics, forecast accurately, and surface data-driven insights that inform both sales strategy and editorial priorities.
- • Act as the voice of the market internally: synthesize client feedback, competitive intelligence, and emerging trends to influence new product development and pricing strategies.
- • Negotiate complex IOs and MSAs, partnering with Legal and RevOps to ensure terms protect margin while meeting advertiser objectives for viewability, brand safety, and attribution.
- • Mentor junior SDRs and interns by sharing best practices, running mock calls, and celebrating wins—contributing to a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety.
- • Represent Axios at industry conferences, panels, and networking events, elevating our brand while sourcing net-new relationships and deepening existing ones.
- • Contribute to weekly revenue meetings with concise pipeline updates, risk assessments, and creative upsell ideas that accelerate deal velocity.
- • Stay fluent in the evolving digital-media landscape—privacy regulation, cookie deprecation, CTV, retail media—so you can consult clients on future-proof strategies.
- • Champion DEI in every campaign proposal, ensuring inclusive audience targeting and creative representation that reflects Axios’ newsroom values.
- • Own post-sale success in partnership with Account Management, monitoring campaign delivery, optimizing in-flight, and teeing up renewal/expansion conversations 60 days before expiration.
- • Thrive in a fully remote environment by mastering asynchronous communication, documenting decisions in Notion, and building rapport across Slack, Zoom, and occasional IRL retreats.
- • Celebrate wins loudly—whether a first $100K insertion order or a multi-year seven-figure partnership—while iterating quickly on losses to refine pitch narratives and objection-handling techniques.
