📋 Description
- • The Associate Director, Patient Engagement GDNF will lead US-based patient advocacy and engagement efforts for AskBio’s Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple System Atrophy programs, serving as the critical link between patient communities and internal teams to ensure patient perspectives shape clinical development and corporate strategy.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and executing engagement strategies, building trust-based relationships with patient advocacy groups, managing patient advisory boards and council meetings, creating and overseeing the quarterly community newsletter (AAVengers), participating in cross-functional study teams to support recruitment and retention, and communicating progress and metrics to leadership and partners.
- • AskBio Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bayer AG, is a fully integrated gene therapy company dedicated to developing transformative molecular medicines for rare and common diseases, with a strong pipeline in neuromuscular, central nervous system, cardiovascular, and metabolic indications, headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, and Edinburgh, Scotland.
- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in patient-centered drug development, strengthen leadership in cross-functional collaboration, gain influence in shaping clinical trial design through patient insights, and contribute to advancing gene therapy accessibility and education for underserved communities.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, public health, or a related field and at least 8 years’ experience in patient advocacy/engagement or closely related roles within biotechnology and pharmaceutical healthcare industries
- • Experience in Neurology and/or Parkinson’s Disease
- • Understanding of drug development process, with ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
- • Proven ability to translate patient insights into actionable inputs for clinical development
- • Excellent communication and social skills to engage with patients, advocacy groups, and internal collaborators effectively
- • Demonstrated peer leadership experience and ability to inspire and motivate a matrixed team
