đź“‹ Description
- • Higgsfield AI is at the forefront of the synthetic media revolution, rapidly establishing itself as the premier video AI company shaping the future of social media content. In an astonishing nine months since launch, we've achieved a $200 million sales run-rate, further bolstered by a recent $130 million Series A funding round. This trajectory of hypergrowth presents an exceptional opportunity for a talented and driven Associate General Counsel, Product to join our dynamic legal team.
- • Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this pivotal role is designed for an individual eager to make a significant impact during a critical phase of our company's expansion. You will be instrumental in shaping and scaling our emerging Legal function, transforming it into a strategic business partner that provides essential guidance and proactive risk mitigation.
- • The core of this role revolves around providing comprehensive legal and strategic risk-mitigation advice to our innovative design, engineering, and research teams. This involves navigating a complex landscape of privacy, data security, online safety, intellectual property (including copyright and secondary liability), evolving AI regulations, and consumer protection laws, all within the context of cutting-edge AI-powered products.
- • A key responsibility will be to grow, manage, and operate a robust global privacy and data protection compliance program. This includes developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to international data privacy standards and best practices, safeguarding user data and maintaining customer trust.
- • You will play a crucial role in building out the necessary legal and operational infrastructure to ensure that risk is managed efficiently and scalably across the organization. This involves creating frameworks, playbooks, and processes that can adapt to our rapid growth and evolving business needs.
- • Staying ahead of the curve is paramount. You will be expected to continuously monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments specifically relevant to AI companies. Your ability to translate potential risks and opportunities into clear, actionable advice for various business stakeholders will be critical to our success.
- • This role demands a proactive and adaptable mindset. You will be encouraged to contribute to urgent company-wide initiatives, even those that may fall outside your immediate area of expertise. Your willingness to roll up your sleeves and tackle challenges head-on will be highly valued.
- • We are seeking a high-energy problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, demanding, and results-oriented environment. The ideal candidate possesses a 'doer' attitude, demonstrating a strong bias for action and a commitment to driving tangible outcomes.
- • You will be comfortable collaborating with colleagues across different time zones, understanding the nuances of global operations and communication.
- • Exceptional communication skills are essential. You must be able to articulate complex legal concepts in a crisp, business-friendly manner, fostering understanding and alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
- • This is a unique opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking company at the intersection of AI and media, contributing to the legal strategy that underpins our innovation and growth. You will have the chance to shape best practices in a nascent but rapidly developing legal field.
- • The Associate General Counsel, Product will be a key advisor, helping to navigate the uncharted territories of AI development and deployment, ensuring that Higgsfield AI operates ethically, legally, and responsibly as we continue to scale globally.
- • Your work will directly influence product development, ensuring that privacy-by-design and safety-by-design principles are embedded from the outset, mitigating potential legal and reputational risks.
- • You will also be involved in advising on intellectual property matters, particularly concerning the use of data for training AI models and the output generated by our synthetic media technologies.
- • Furthermore, you will contribute to the company's engagement with regulators and policymakers, helping to shape the narrative and compliance strategies around AI and synthetic media.
- • This role requires a blend of deep legal expertise and a pragmatic, business-oriented approach, enabling you to balance legal requirements with commercial objectives.
- • You will be a trusted advisor, building strong relationships across departments and becoming an integral part of the company's success.
- • The ideal candidate is someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, propose innovative solutions, and take ownership of critical legal projects.
- • We are looking for someone who can not only identify risks but also propose practical, implementable solutions that enable the business to move forward confidently.
- • This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and development within a rapidly expanding legal department and a leading AI company.
- • You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working alongside experienced legal professionals and talented individuals from various disciplines.
- • The San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles location offers access to a vibrant tech ecosystem and a high quality of life.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar, with the ability to practice in-house in California.
- • Minimum of six (6) years of legal practice experience, with a strong emphasis on product counseling, privacy, data security, and technology law.
- • Deep understanding of state and international privacy, data protection, and online safety laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA). Familiarity with emerging AI regulations and their implications for product development.
- • Working knowledge of copyright law, secondary liability principles, and consumer protection laws as they apply to digital platforms and e-commerce.
- • Meaningful in-house experience at a high-growth technology company, particularly one with AI-powered products, is strongly preferred.
- • A 'doer' attitude with a low-ego, problem-solving approach, demonstrating the ability to independently manage projects and drive results without excessive reliance on outside counsel.
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, concise, and actionable business advice.
- • Curiosity and a demonstrated discipline to learn new areas of law and technology to meet evolving business needs.
- • Comfort working in a very fast-paced, demanding, and results-oriented environment, including collaborating with colleagues in distant time zones.

- • Opportunity to work remotely with a preferred base in the San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles.
- • Be a foundational member of a rapidly scaling Legal team at a leading AI company, with significant opportunities for professional growth and impact.
- • Exposure to cutting-edge AI technology and the opportunity to shape legal strategies in a nascent and exciting field.
- • Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a team of passionate and talented professionals.
