📋 Description
- • As an Associate General Counsel (Claims Coverage) at USAA, you will provide expert legal counsel on property and casualty insurance contracts, claims, and coverage matters, playing a critical role in supporting business objectives and mitigating legal risk for the military community and their families.
- • Day to day, you will independently advise senior leadership on complex legal issues, lead high-impact legal assignments, communicate legal positions clearly to stakeholders, collaborate across teams to mitigate risk, monitor regulatory changes, mentor junior attorneys, manage outside counsel, and ensure compliance with risk and control policies.
- • You will join USAA’s Legal and Advisory Services team, a mission-driven organization committed to serving the military community with honesty, integrity, loyalty, and service, where your work directly supports the company’s strategic goals and member-focused values.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in P&C insurance law, develop leadership skills through mentoring and cross-functional projects, influence organizational decision-making, and advance your career within a prestigious organization that values professional growth and ethical excellence.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required.
- • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in one U.S. state or territory.
- • 8 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 7 years as a practicing attorney.
- • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders, influence decisions, and lead work to achieve strategic goals.
- • P&C insurance contracts, claims, and/or coverage experience.
- • Specific claims coverage expertise in property claims (Homeowners, RPI, Fire, Renters) and in key states including TX, CA, FL, GA, NC, SC, AZ, VA, and/or WA.
