- • As an Associate State Product Manager for California Auto at CSAA Insurance Group, you will lead strategic initiatives that drive profitable growth across multiple products and distribution channels, playing a critical role in shaping market success through data-driven product improvements and stewardship of key profitability drivers such as close ratio, retention, and average premium.
- • You will strategize, build, and implement product plans for the California market, ensuring compliance while consulting with State Product Leadership to align business strategies and operating objectives, and influence overall strategy by defining where, how, and when to contend across customer segments, product mix, geography, value proposition, pricing, distribution channels, and product features.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing product specifics, leading large initiatives critical to the company’s largest book of business (covering design, pricing, policy development, compliance, and operational planning/budget), collaborating with distribution partners to ensure product performance and strategic execution, and utilizing advanced product knowledge to recommend enhancements and develop market introduction plans.
- • You will work closely with a team of analysts and Product Specialists, empowering and holding them accountable while overseeing product development, delivery, and analysis, supervising all aspects of product performance including close ratio, retention, book of business quality, club and agent satisfaction, and reviewing claims trends to achieve loss ratio targets.
- • Maintaining market-specific competitive intelligence and trend analyses, staying abreast of competitor strategies and regulatory/legislative processes, ensuring alignment across functions, communicating results organization-wide, and driving strategy for California Auto by partnering on rate and non-rate actions to address indications and ensure compliance are core aspects of the role.
- • Some travel is required for high-impact relationship-building opportunities with partners, and you will join a collaborative, inclusive culture at CSAA IG where your strengths can grow and your ideas can drive real impact in building innovative, human-centered solutions that help AAA members prevent, prepare for, and recover from life’s uncertainties.
- • In this role, you can achieve mastery in state-level product management within the personal lines P&C insurance industry, develop deep expertise in profitability-driven strategies, and position yourself for advancement into senior product leadership roles by demonstrating consultative leadership, advanced negotiation skills, and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- • 8+ years of related work experience, with 5+ years of relevant experience in the personal lines property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry.
- • Prior experience in state product management, analytical roles, product specialist, market generation, pricing, product strategy and development, or data science.
- • Thorough knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, products, marketplace, competitive landscape, and pricing.
- • In-depth product management expertise and a developed understanding of financial drivers of profitability with a proven track record in developing and sustaining profitability-based product and marketing strategies.
- • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to create and deliver effective presentations, and capacity to influence without direct authority.
