📋 Description

• Audit & Internal Controls Expert - AI Research role at Aptura Inc. involves applying deep audit and controls expertise to shape how frontier AI models reason through audit and controls problems, directly contributing to the development of more reliable and rigorous AI systems in institutional finance contexts.
• Day to day, you will design realistic controls, audit support, and testing tasks based on real engagements; write evaluation rubrics for adequate evidence and sound controls; review AI-generated assessments, workpapers, and schedules for rigour and completeness; build reference workpapers and controls matrices as evaluation benchmarks; and identify where models fail to meet professional standards in evidence sufficiency, control gaps, or testing adequacy.
• Aptura works with leading foundational AI labs to integrate institutional finance expertise into AI model development, founded by ex-Lazard and Partners Group professionals, operating remotely from London and San Francisco with a mission to bridge finance rigor and AI innovation.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in AI alignment and evaluation, contribute to pioneering work at the intersection of audit and artificial intelligence, influence how AI systems internalize professional judgment, and build a portfolio of impact in a high-visibility, niche domain shaping the future of trustworthy AI.

🎯 Requirements

• 5–8+ years in external or internal audit, or a SOX / controls function
• Experience planning and executing testing and reaching defensible conclusions
• CPA, ACA / ACCA, CIA, or equivalent (preferred, not required)
• Ability to explain why a control or piece of evidence is sufficient or insufficient
