📋 Description
- • The AVP, Business Development — Real Estate is a high-velocity producer-support role focused on driving meeting volume, building relationships, and accelerating deal flow with real estate-focused private equity sponsors, REITs, developers, and their advisors across North America.
- • Day to day, the role involves leveraging personal networks to set up 8–12+ high-value meetings per week for senior Howden RE brokers, organizing and attending regional roadshows in key U.S. and Canadian financial centers, developing and reporting on disciplined outreach strategies, building account plans and pipeline tracking using Power BI and Novidea, and partnering on pitch preparation and meeting materials.
- • Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart, operating in over 56 countries with 24,000 employees; Howden Private Capital is its transactional risk arm specializing in Representations & Warranties Insurance (RWI), Tax Liability Insurance, and other structured risk solutions for private equity, real estate investors, corporates, and law firms.
- • The role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in RWI market dynamics within real estate transactions, build a strong professional network across the RE sponsor, REIT, developer, and law firm landscape, and grow into a trusted advisor supporting complex M&A and capital markets deals through disciplined, metrics-driven business development.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree required.
- • Property & Casualty insurance license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire).
- • Willingness to travel up to 30–40% across North America for roadshows, client meetings, and industry events.
- • Strong relationship instincts and a bias toward action, with an existing network or ability to build one quickly across the real estate transactional ecosystem (private equity sponsors, REITs, developers, advisors).
- • Experience operating in a fast-paced, producer-driven business development model where meeting volume and pipeline discipline are tracked rigorously.
