- • We are seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Part-Time Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This on-demand role is perfect for an individual looking to contribute their expertise in managing, supporting, and optimizing our Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure, offering approximately 2-3 hours of work per day as needed. While primarily remote, this position may require occasional onsite presence (1 day per week) in New Jersey, providing a flexible hybrid work experience.
- • As an AVD Support Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring a seamless and efficient virtual desktop experience for our end-users. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, addressing and resolving complex technical issues that arise within the AVD environment. This includes troubleshooting connectivity problems, application performance issues, user profile discrepancies, and any other challenges that impact user productivity.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves the meticulous maintenance and optimization of our golden images. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and testing these images to ensure they are stable, secure, and contain the necessary applications and configurations for our user base. This proactive approach to image management is crucial for maintaining consistency and reducing support overhead.
- • You will also play a key role in managing user profiles using FSLogix technology. This involves configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing FSLogix profiles to ensure users have a consistent and reliable experience across their virtual sessions, regardless of the session host they connect to.
- • The position requires hands-on involvement in managing patching schedules and implementing auto-scaling solutions for our AVD environment. You will ensure that virtual machines are kept up-to-date with the latest security patches and that the environment scales efficiently to meet fluctuating user demands, thereby optimizing resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
- • Contributing to cost optimization strategies is another vital component of this role. You will analyze AVD usage patterns, identify opportunities for cost savings, and implement solutions to reduce Azure spend without compromising performance or user experience. This could involve tuning auto-scaling settings, optimizing VM sizes, or leveraging reserved instances.
- • You will also be involved in occasional environment builds and deployments. This includes setting up new AVD host pools, configuring session hosts, and integrating them with other Azure services as required. This aspect of the role offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth and evolution of our virtual desktop infrastructure.
- • This role demands a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop, and related technologies. You will need to be adept at diagnosing and resolving issues within a cloud-based VDI environment, leveraging your technical skills to maintain high availability and performance.
