- • As a Billing/Scheduling Associate II at Washington University in St. Louis, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operational flow of our Ophthalmology department, specifically focusing on patient financial interactions and appointment management.
- • This remote position offers the flexibility to work from home while contributing to a leading academic medical institution.
- • Your primary responsibility will involve proactively obtaining essential insurance information from patients, ensuring all necessary referral forms are secured before appointments.
- • You will also be tasked with counseling patients on available financial assistance options, providing clear explanations and guidance to help them navigate the complexities of healthcare costs.
- • A significant part of your role will be dedicated to patient scheduling and registration, conducted exclusively over the phone or via email, ensuring no direct in-person patient contact is required.

- • A core function involves explaining the billing process to patients, addressing their inquiries regarding charges, payments, and insurance coverage.
- • You will also serve as a point of contact for third-party payers, resolving issues and clarifying billing discrepancies.

- • You will also be responsible for explaining the billing process to other internal staff, fostering a shared understanding of financial procedures.
- • Basic account maintenance activities will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring patient financial records are up-to-date and accurate.
- • You will assist patients with understanding their insurance-related questions concerning the billing process, acting as a knowledgeable resource.
- • Support will be provided to staff in sending out reminder cards and performing other essential scheduling duties.
- • You will actively work with the Relatient patient reminder system, analyzing results and taking appropriate action, such as contacting patients or making necessary scheduling changes.
- • In some instances, you may be required to make daily edits and temporary adjustments to provider scheduling templates based on direct input from physicians, ensuring provider availability is managed effectively.
- • This position demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a remote work environment.
- • You will contribute to the overall patient experience by ensuring a seamless and informative process from scheduling through to billing inquiries.
- • The role requires adherence to university policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality of patient information, and contributing to a positive and efficient departmental workflow.
