- • Join The Economist Group, a global leader dedicated to driving progress through independent analysis and rigorous insights, as a Business Development Manager in Shanghai.
- • This pivotal role sits within The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world-renowned research and analysis division that empowers leaders across public and private sectors to navigate complex global landscapes and make confident strategic decisions.
- • You will be instrumental in expanding the reach and impact of the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network (EICN), the EIU's exclusive executive briefing and networking service.
- • EICN provides C-suite executives of international firms and local multinational corporations with critical understanding of political, economic, and business environments, focusing on the tangible impacts of macro-level changes on their operations.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to drive new business development for EICN within the dynamic Shanghai market, targeting senior-level executives.

- • Beyond EICN memberships, you will also be tasked with identifying and capitalizing on other significant revenue-generating opportunities within your territory.
- • This includes actively pursuing and closing deals for event sponsorships, custom research projects, and paid speaking engagements, thereby broadening The Economist Group's commercial footprint.
- • You will collaborate closely with the Commercial Director, Network Director, and other key internal stakeholders to conceptualize and implement an ambitious new member acquisition strategy for China.
- • A core element of your role will be to personally execute this strategy, ensuring it translates into tangible results and market penetration.

- • Beyond sales, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal attendance and engagement of senior executives at EICN member events, fostering a valuable peer-to-peer learning environment.
- • This role demands a high degree of ownership; you are expected to manage your remit with the same dedication and strategic foresight as if it were your own business.
- • As a representative of The Economist Group, you will embody the brand's values, acting as a trustworthy and reliable ambassador in all your interactions.
- • You will leverage The Economist Group's esteemed reputation for analytical rigour, global expertise, and evidence-based insights to build credibility and open doors with high-level executives.
- • The role requires a proactive and independent approach, with the ability to self-initiate and drive activities without constant supervision.
- • You will need to demonstrate a high degree of intellectual curiosity, a genuine interest in international business dynamics, and a keen awareness of current global affairs to effectively engage with senior decision-makers.
- • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are paramount, enabling you to build and nurture trusted, long-term partnerships with C-suite executives.
- • Your ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively, both in person and through various communication channels, will be key to your success.
- • This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a globally respected organization, making a tangible impact on how businesses understand and navigate the complexities of the international marketplace.
- • You will be at the forefront of business development within a prestigious network, connecting with influential leaders and shaping strategic conversations.
- • Your success will be measured by your ability to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and strengthen The Economist Group's presence in one of the world's most vital economic hubs.
