  • • The Business Development Representative at VWR International, LLC is an individual contributor role focused on driving incremental revenue and gross profit growth by acquiring new customers, expanding contract coverage, and increasing one-stop-shop adoption through MarketSource in the West Region (CA, NV, OR, HI), with emphasis on Higher Education laboratories and emerging lab markets such as biotech, pharma R&D, and semiconductor/tech R&D labs.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include driving customer acquisition within small to mid-sized biopharma and emerging life science companies, identifying and pursuing expansion opportunities in underpenetrated or high-growth accounts, engaging senior-level stakeholders to uncover strategic opportunities, building and progressing a qualified pipeline through disciplined prospecting, selling consultatively by aligning VWR solutions to customer needs, collaborating with territory sales teams and specialists to execute growth strategies, supporting contract wins and implementation, and representing VWR in the field across the sales cycle.
  • • VWR is a global provider of mission-critical products, services, and technologies that support scientific discovery and innovation, backed by a vast portfolio and committed to an inclusive culture where employees are empowered to grow and succeed; the role operates within Avantor’s established processes, tools, and policies, working independently with general supervision while reporting progress to sales leadership.
  • • In this role, the individual will develop expertise in consultative B2B sales, structured selling methodologies (e.g., SPIN, Challenger), CRM and analytics tools (C4C, Qlik), and complex stakeholder engagement; they will gain experience in strategic account expansion, contract execution, and market penetration while contributing to measurable business outcomes such as $4M–$7M in incremental annual revenue and $1.2M–$2.1M in gross profit growth.

🎯 Requirements

  • • College degree or equivalent/applicable experience
  • • 2–5+ years of experience in a complex, consultative B2B sales environment involving multiple stakeholders in contracting decisions
  • • Proven track record in new business development, pipeline creation, and growth-oriented selling
  • • Experience with structured selling processes (e.g., SPIN, Challenger, Miller Heiman) and technology platforms including CRM (e.g., Salesforce, C4C) and analytics tools (e.g., Qlik)
  • • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the region (CA, NV, OR, HI) as a field-based role
  • • Preference for candidates with business development, distribution experience, and/or a scientific background including exposure to laboratory or research environments

  • • Competitive compensation package with base salary range of $75,850.00 – $129,202.50 and target cash opportunity (TCO) of $108,350.00 – $184,575.00
