Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the technical architecture and implementation strategy for Reddit’s advertising platform, partnering with product, engineering, and sales to translate complex business requirements into scalable, reliable systems that power billions of ad impressions every month.
- • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Reddit’s Ads business unit and its enterprise partners, leading discovery workshops, solution design sessions, and post-launch optimization sprints to ensure every campaign exceeds performance benchmarks.
- • Design and deliver end-to-end integrations with demand-side platforms (DSPs), data management platforms (DMPs), and third-party measurement vendors—writing production-grade code, authoring detailed API specifications, and creating reference implementations that reduce partner onboarding time from weeks to days.
- • Build and maintain real-time data pipelines that ingest, transform, and surface petabyte-scale event streams, enabling advertisers to target Reddit’s 100k+ interest communities with millisecond-level latency and surgical precision.
- • Create self-service tooling that empowers sales strategists and account managers to configure, test, and launch new ad products without engineering support, dramatically increasing go-to-market velocity and freeing engineering cycles for core platform innovation.
- • Establish rigorous experimentation frameworks—A/B, multivariate, and synthetic control—that quantify the incremental lift of every new ad format, bidding algorithm, and audience segment, feeding insights directly into the Ads product roadmap.
- • Translate complex auction dynamics, attribution models, and privacy constraints into clear narratives for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring cross-functional alignment on trade-offs between revenue, user experience, and regulatory compliance.
- • Champion privacy-by-design principles across all Ads initiatives, partnering with Legal, Security, and Policy teams to implement consent management, data minimization, and differential privacy techniques that exceed GDPR, CCPA, and emerging global standards.
- • Mentor junior engineers and analysts through code reviews, architecture deep-dives, and lunch-and-learn sessions, cultivating a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the broader Ads organization.
- • Monitor and optimize the cost-efficiency of cloud infrastructure supporting the Ads stack—leveraging autoscaling, spot instances, and workload partitioning to maintain sub-100ms p99 latency while keeping compute spend under aggressive growth targets.
- • Collaborate with Reddit’s Community and Safety teams to detect and mitigate adversarial ad behavior—building anomaly-detection models, rate-limiting systems, and policy enforcement pipelines that protect users while preserving legitimate advertiser value.
- • Represent Reddit at industry conferences, contribute to open-source projects, and publish technical blog posts that establish the company as a thought leader in privacy-safe, community-first advertising technology.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of software engineering or solutions engineering experience with at least 2 years focused on digital advertising, real-time bidding, or ad-tech integrations.
- • Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python, Go, Java, or Scala) and hands-on experience with distributed systems, stream processing (Kafka, Flink, or Spark), and cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP).
- • Deep understanding of programmatic advertising protocols—OpenRTB 2.5+, VAST, MRAID, and ads.txt—as well as attribution methodologies (multi-touch, view-through, SKAdNetwork) and privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, ATT).
- • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into technical specifications, deliver MVPs under tight deadlines, and iterate based on quantitative feedback from A/B tests and production metrics.
- • Nice-to-have: Experience with machine learning for ad ranking or fraud detection, familiarity with SQL and columnar data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery), and prior contributions to open-source ad-tech projects.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person off-sites in destinations like Denver, Austin, and Amsterdam, plus a $500 annual stipend for home-office upgrades.
- • Competitive total compensation package including base salary, annual performance bonus, and equity in the form of Reddit restricted stock units with a four-year vesting schedule.
- • Comprehensive health coverage—100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and 80% for dependents—plus a $1,500 annual wellness stipend and no-cost mental-health therapy sessions.
- • 401(k) plan with 4% employer match, immediate vesting, and access to financial-planning advisors; generous parental leave (16 weeks fully paid for all parents) and unlimited PTO with a mandatory 10-day minimum.
