- • Babylist is seeking a highly analytical and product-passionate Consumables & Diapering Buyer to join our dynamic e-commerce team. This is a pivotal role where you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our rapidly growing Consumables and Diapering departments. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive business strategies and sophisticated assortment plans, ensuring they are tightly aligned with both divisional objectives and overarching company goals. Your primary focus will be to identify and capitalize on opportunities that drive significant business growth while simultaneously maximizing profitability and enhancing operational efficiency as we continue to scale.
- • As a key member of our team, you will cultivate and lead strategic vendor partnerships, fostering strong, collaborative relationships with both established national brands and emerging players in the baby product industry. You will act as the primary point of contact for these vendors, negotiating terms, managing performance, and ensuring alignment on joint business planning objectives. This includes driving sales growth, optimizing profitability, and securing valuable co-op investments that support our marketing and merchandising efforts.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves translating complex data into actionable insights. You will dive deep into registry behavior, customer purchasing patterns, and market trends to make informed assortment decisions. This requires a delicate balance between meeting immediate customer needs, delivering exceptional value, and planning for long-term category expansion. Your expertise will ensure our product offerings remain relevant, competitive, and highly differentiated in a crowded marketplace.
- • You will be a champion for our owned brands, developing the strategic vision and executing merchandising strategies, including the successful launch of new owned brand products. This requires a keen understanding of brand positioning, product development, and go-to-market strategies to achieve ambitious financial targets.
- • Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with a diverse range of cross-functional teams, including Inventory Management, Operations, Site Merchandising, Marketing, Content, Data Analytics, and Product Development. Your ability to communicate clearly, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment across these departments will be critical to your success.
- • You will play a crucial role in optimizing the on-site customer experience. Partnering with the Site Merchandising team, you will contribute to shaping product presentation, developing compelling brand storytelling, and ensuring optimal assortment visibility to drive engagement and conversion.
- • Leading profitability optimization initiatives will be a core responsibility. Working in close collaboration with Planning and Operations teams, you will identify and implement strategies to enhance profitability across all aspects of the P&L for your assigned categories. This includes managing costs, optimizing pricing, and improving inventory turnover.
- • Staying ahead of the curve is essential. You will continuously monitor emerging trends, conduct thorough market research, and leverage data analysis to ensure Babylist’s Consumables and Diapering assortment remains best-in-class. This proactive approach will help us maintain our competitive edge and anticipate the evolving needs of modern families.
- • You will be empowered to introduce and refine processes that enhance efficiency and scalability for the broader e-commerce team. Your ability to identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and implement improvements will contribute to the overall operational excellence of the business.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of millions of growing families by curating a selection of essential products that help them navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood with confidence and ease. You will be part of a mission-driven company that is dedicated to supporting families through every step of their journey.
- • As a remote-first company, you will thrive in an environment that values autonomy, collaboration, and results. You will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues through regular in-person gatherings, fostering strong relationships that power our collective success. Your contributions will directly influence the growth and success of Babylist as we continue to redefine the baby product industry.
