- • Deliver accurate, impartial, and confidential telephone interpretation between English and Cantonese for clients in healthcare, local government, and public services across the UK
- • Work remotely from home to provide real-time interpreting services to support individuals accessing critical public services
- • Manage your own schedule while ensuring consistent availability to meet client demand and service level requirements
- • Utilize LanguageLine’s secure Interpreter Portal and dedicated platforms to access calls, manage bookings, and stay updated on protocols
- • Participate in remote training sessions provided by LanguageLine Solutions to maintain high standards of interpretation and compliance
- • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information in medical, legal, and social service contexts
- • Adhere to ethical interpreting standards and industry best practices for telephone interpretation in a fast-paced, on-demand environment
- • Support a diverse range of clients including the NHS, local authorities, and UK government departments requiring language access
- • Ensure reliable technical setup with a smartphone and stable home Wi-Fi to maintain uninterrupted call quality
- • Complete and maintain an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check as a mandatory requirement for working with public sector clients
- • Engage with the Interpreter Portal forums to share best practices, receive updates, and connect with other freelance interpreters
- • Operate as an independent contractor with the flexibility to set working hours that align with personal and professional commitments
- • Contribute to LanguageLine’s mission of breaking language barriers and improving access to essential services for non-English speakers
- • Respond to call volumes during peak hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by client needs and scheduling availability
- • Follow all company policies, data protection guidelines, and confidentiality agreements throughout the interpreting process
- • Maintain fluency and cultural competence in both English and Cantonese to ensure precise and context-appropriate interpretation
- • Be available to undergo periodic quality assurance reviews and performance evaluations as part of ongoing professional development
