📋 Description

• Own and evolve LI.FI’s end-to-end data strategy, translating ambitious DeFi growth targets into a concrete, multi-year roadmap that scales from seed-stage to global institutional adoption.
• Lead the data chapter—currently a cross-functional mix of engineers, analysts, and scientists—by setting technical standards, running fortnightly guild sessions, and creating reusable libraries that cut dashboard delivery time from days to hours.
• Architect and maintain resilient, auditable pipelines that ingest on-chain events, off-chain API logs, and third-party market data, ensuring sub-minute freshness for real-time pricing and risk models.
• Design and govern our Snowflake warehouse, enforcing versioned dbt models, data contracts, and role-based access so every team can self-serve trustworthy metrics without bottlenecks.
• Partner with Product, Backend, and DevOps squads to embed event tracking, A/B test instrumentation, and cost-aware compute policies into every new feature release.
• Build an internal insights platform on Preset that surfaces KPIs like bridge volume, slippage, and user retention, enabling leadership to make data-driven roadmap decisions within one click.
• Translate complex blockchain data (logs, traces, receipts) into business-friendly definitions, creating canonical datasets that power both internal strategy and external customer analytics.
• Mentor junior analysts and engineers through pair programming, design reviews, and career ladders, preparing at least two team members for promotion within the first 12 months.
• Champion data governance, privacy, and security best practices to satisfy institutional clients’ compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001) while keeping the startup’s velocity.
• Experiment with emerging web3 analytics tools—Dune, Nansen, Flipside—to enrich our datasets with market sentiment, whale movements, and protocol health scores.
• Present quarterly data reviews to the exec team, highlighting growth levers, cost-saving opportunities, and strategic risks backed by rigorous statistical analysis.
• Create a culture of reproducible research: notebooks in Git, peer review, automated testing, and clear documentation so insights are never lost when someone goes on vacation.
• Collaborate with Finance to model token incentives, liquidity mining ROI, and cross-chain fee structures, ensuring every incentive dollar is measurable and justified.
• Establish SLAs and on-call rotations for critical data pipelines, balancing 99.9 % uptime with sustainable work-life balance for the team.
• Lay the groundwork for ML-driven features—predictive slippage, fraud detection, dynamic routing—by building feature stores and model-serving infrastructure.
• Represent LI.FI at data meetups, conferences, and open-source communities, sharing our learnings and attracting top-tier talent to the chapter.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data science roles with demonstrable ownership of warehouse design and pipeline architecture
• Proven experience mentoring or formally leading data professionals, with evidence of promotions or skill growth among mentees
• Expert-level SQL and Python; hands-on experience with Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse, plus orchestration tools like Airflow/Fivetran
• Track record of translating ambiguous business questions into scoped data projects that deliver measurable impact
• Exceptional communication skills—able to explain a left-join to a non-technical founder and a token swap to a data engineer
• Curiosity about crypto/DeFi; hands-on experience with blockchain datasets (logs, traces, Dune queries) is a strong plus
