Full Job Description
đ Description
- ⢠Serve as the strategic Chief Financial Officer for an AmLaw 100 law firm, sitting on the Senior Leadership Team and directly influencing the firmâs growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability. You will own the integrity of every financial system and data point, ensuring that attorneys, partners, and staff make decisions with complete confidence in the numbers.
- ⢠Architect and execute forward-looking financial strategies that align with the firmâs aggressive expansion goalsâwhether through mergers, lateral acquisitions, or capital investmentsâwhile safeguarding fiscal discipline and regulatory compliance.
- ⢠Lead a multi-disciplinary organization spanning Revenue Cycle Management, Core Accounting, Financial Reporting & Analysis, Partner Accounting & Taxation, Procurement, Insurance, and Workplace Strategies. Your leadership will set the tone for a culture of exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and seamless collaboration across all offices.
- ⢠Own the full financial close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Build executive-level dashboards and KPIs that translate complex data into actionable insights for practice group leaders, the Executive Committee, and the Board.
- ⢠Drive profitability analysis down to the matter, client, attorney, practice group, and strategic business unit levels. Benchmark performance against internal history and AmLaw peer data, then recommend concrete actions to improve margins and realization rates.
- ⢠Manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships for a multi-office, high-revenue partnership. Oversee partner compensation distributions, capital account movements, and tax-advantaged strategies while maintaining strict adherence to partnership agreements and regulatory requirements.
- ⢠Direct centralized procurement policies that control costs without compromising quality or attorney productivity. Evaluate, negotiate, and manage a portfolio of insurance policiesâprofessional liability, property & casualty, cyber, health, and workersâ compensationâwhile continuously assessing enterprise risk and claims exposure.
- ⢠Shape the firmâs physical footprint by negotiating leases, managing buildout budgets, and optimizing space utilization. Partner with HR, IT, and administrative leaders to implement workplace strategies that enhance collaboration, well-being, and hybrid-work flexibility.
- ⢠Mentor and develop a high-performing finance, facilities, and insurance administration team. Set clear performance expectations, conduct rigorous evaluations, and create individualized development plans that build bench strength for future leadership roles.
- ⢠Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations in plain language to attorneys who are experts in lawânot numbers. Foster a service-oriented mindset across your teams so that every requestâwhether from a first-year associate or the Managing Partnerâis handled with urgency and professionalism.
- ⢠Champion continuous process improvement by leveraging technology, automation, and best-practice frameworks. Identify opportunities to streamline billing, collections, and WIP management, reducing lock-up days and improving cash conversion cycles.
- ⢠Maintain an unwavering commitment to confidentiality, ethical conduct, and professional integrity. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team, providing decisive guidance under tight deadlines and high-stakes scenarios.
- ⢠Travel extensively across domestic offices to ensure consistent application of policies, build relationships with local leadership, and stay attuned to on-the-ground operational realities.
- ⢠Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Executive or Executive Leadership Team, demonstrating flexibility and a solutions-first mindset in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
