- • As a Clinical Appeals Nurse (PRN) with NTST, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in advocating for patient care and ensuring fair reimbursement by meticulously reviewing medical records and constructing robust clinical appeals. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your extensive clinical expertise in a specialized healthcare administrative function, directly impacting hospital clients' financial health and operational efficiency.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and submit comprehensive clinical appeals in response to denials issued by managed care organizations, governmental entities (such as Medicare and Medicaid), and Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs). This involves a deep dive into patient charts, understanding the nuances of medical necessity denials, and challenging incorrect Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) reassignments.
- • You will be tasked with critically reviewing medical records, cross-referencing them with established industry guidelines, current Medicare policies, and best practice standards. Your ability to synthesize complex clinical information and articulate it clearly will be essential in building strong, evidence-based arguments to support the reversal of denials.
- • A significant aspect of this role includes participating in Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) Hearings. In this capacity, you will present oral arguments, effectively communicating the clinical justification for services rendered and advocating for the reversal of Medicare denials. This requires confidence, clarity, and a thorough understanding of the case.
- • Beyond individual case management, you will contribute to the broader goal of improving healthcare processes by analyzing denial patterns. Your insights will be invaluable in identifying trends and providing feedback to help reduce the occurrence of future denials, thereby enhancing revenue cycle management for our hospital clients.
- • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with the dedicated appeals team and hospital clients, providing regular updates on the status and outcomes of appeals. Maintaining open lines of communication and fostering strong working relationships will be crucial for success.
- • Continuous learning is a requirement. You must maintain current knowledge of evolving healthcare regulations, intricate coding guidelines (such as ICD-10 and CPT), and the ever-changing payer policies that directly impact the appeals process. Staying abreast of these changes ensures the accuracy and effectiveness of your appeals.
- • This PRN (as needed) role offers flexibility, allowing you to contribute your expertise on a flexible basis. You will be comfortable with remote work arrangements, utilizing virtual collaboration tools to connect with colleagues and clients effectively.
- • While primarily remote, occasional travel may be required for conferences, client meetings, or in-person hearings, providing opportunities for professional development and direct engagement.
- • The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with an exceptional attention to detail to ensure no critical information is overlooked in the appeal process.
- • Your proficiency in the MS Office suite, particularly Word for document preparation and Excel for data tracking, will be essential for managing your workload efficiently.
- • This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the healthcare landscape by ensuring that providers receive appropriate reimbursement for the critical services they deliver, ultimately supporting the financial stability and operational capacity of healthcare facilities.
