Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the future of spectator sports technology. Social Cues is re-imagining the classic Killer Pool game through an intelligent, cloud-driven system that automates scoring and delivers cinematic engagement for viewers worldwide. As the founding Cloud Engineer on this 8-week Proof of Concept, you will architect the entire AWS backbone that turns raw edge-camera feeds into real-time game events and leaderboard updates.
- • Own the end-to-end AWS deployment of a minimal, reliable, demo-ready stack. From the first line of Terraform to the final CloudWatch alarm, every decision you make will be visible to investors, partners, and future engineering hires. Your architecture must be lightweight enough to run on a tight PoC budget yet robust enough to withstand live demo traffic and rapid iteration.
- • Partner directly with the Computer Vision team to ensure the object-detection model translates on-table action into accurate, low-latency game events. You will provision GPU-enabled training environments, set up automated data pipelines for continuous model improvement, and design feedback loops that let CV engineers iterate daily without touching production.
- • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Spin up Kinesis Video Streams for high-throughput ingestion from multiple edge cameras, wire Rekognition Stream Processor for real-time object detection, and route enriched events through Kinesis Data Streams into Lambda-powered Game Engine micro-services. Every resource must be tagged, versioned, and reproducible in minutes.
- • Build a secure, event-driven pipeline that guarantees idempotent, ordered delivery of game events. Apply IAM least-privilege principles, enforce TLS on every public endpoint, and integrate Amazon Cognito for seamless player and spectator authentication. Your security posture will be scrutinized by external auditors; flawless execution is non-negotiable.
- • Establish bullet-proof observability. Configure CloudWatch dashboards, custom metrics, and multi-tier alarms that surface latency spikes, failed Rekognition calls, or DynamoDB hot partitions before they impact the demo. Create runbooks and on-call rotations so the team can sleep soundly during investor roadshows.
- • Optimize ruthlessly for cost and performance. Use Lambda power-tuning, DynamoDB on-demand capacity, and S3 Intelligent-Tiering to keep monthly spend under PoC budget while delivering sub-second end-to-end latency. Document every cost lever so the next phase can scale 10× without surprises.
- • Collaborate in a fast-moving, part-time squad (16–20 hrs/week) spread across Kraków, London, and San Francisco. Daily async stand-ups, weekly architecture reviews, and a shared Slack channel keep everyone aligned. Your code reviews set the standard for quality and readability that future full-time hires will inherit.
- • Deliver a live, narrated demo at the end of 8 weeks that streams a real Killer Pool match to a web dashboard, updates scores automatically, and replays highlight clips within seconds. The success of this PoC unlocks seed funding and your opportunity to lead the platform build-out in the next phase.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience building and operating serverless production workloads
- • Expert-level proficiency with Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Kinesis (KVS & KDS), and Rekognition
- • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CDK
- • Strong Python scripting skills for Lambda development, automation, and data transformation
- • Nice-to-have: prior exposure to real-time streaming architectures, ML-based AWS services, and cost-optimization techniques in pay-per-use environments
🏖️ Benefits
- • Part-time, fully remote contract (16–20 hrs/week) that fits around your existing commitments
- • Competitive hourly rate paid bi-weekly with no invoicing hassle
- • Direct mentorship from ex-Apple/Google leadership and a fast path to full-time founding-team status if the PoC succeeds
- • All-access AWS credits and latest tools—experiment freely without budget red tape
- • Flexible working hours across EU/US time zones and a results-only work environment
