📋 Description

  • Design, plan, and implement Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions using Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to ensure maximum end-user functionality while maintaining strict application security standards.
  • Continuously review and update VDI infrastructure to apply the latest software patches and security updates in compliance with government and enterprise requirements.
  • Support continuous monitoring of the AVD environment to proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve performance, availability, and security issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for the VDI environment, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, operational assessments, and change logs.
  • Develop and deploy Azure scripts and workbooks to automate AVD provisioning, scaling, patching, and configuration tasks.
  • Manage and maintain the AVD master image by applying monthly security patches, updating host pools, and ensuring image consistency across all deployments.
  • Troubleshoot complex AVD and related Azure platform issues, including connectivity, authentication, performance bottlenecks, and resource allocation failures.
  • Monitor and manage autoscaling of AVD host pools to dynamically allocate virtual resources based on user demand, ensuring optimal performance during peak usage.
  • Analyze AVD usage trends and consumption patterns to tailor automation workflows that respond to usage spikes and dips, improving system efficiency.
  • Track and optimize AVD cost consumption by identifying inefficiencies, recommending cost-saving measures, and implementing budget-conscious resource configurations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align VDI operations with broader EITaaS program goals, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise IT services.
  • Adhere to all established processes, standards, and compliance frameworks including STIGs, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FEDRAMP for securing systems and data.
  • Integrate and secure Microsoft platform services including Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Windows AD-integrated PKI, and Single Sign-On (SSO) within the AVD environment.
  • Utilize scripting languages such as Command, Bash, Python, and Ansible to create, analyze, and automate operational tasks across the Azure cloud environment.
  • Perform up to 10% travel within the Continental US to support on-site deployments, audits, or customer engagements as required.
  • Maintain active Secret clearance and ensure compliance with all U.S. government security protocols throughout employment.

🎯 Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • 10+ years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s degree in applicable field may substitute for 5 years of experience)
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
  • Strong experience with core Azure platform services and native functionality
  • Azure Administrator or Developer certification (or higher)
